Dempsey Avenue Sebastian, Florida 32958 March 16, 1977 Re: Traffic Control Devices Dear Mayor Cragg, Wayne L. Allen Vice President and Assistant General Counsel General Development Corporation periodically receives inquiries from various sources concerning our policy in re- gard to traffic control devices. This letter is to advise as to our position on the subject. Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law has statewide application. In it, the legislature has made it the responsibility of local govern- ment to determine the location, purchase, install and main- tain traffic control devices. It is General Development's policy to not undertake these obligations of government in the pursuit of its community development activities. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding General Develop- ment policy on this subject. We, of course, will continue to work with your city on this and other matters of mutual concern. Sincerely, WAYNE L. ALLEN WLA:bc cc: L.B. Vocelle, City Attorney 1111 South Bayshore Drive, Miami, Florida 33131 Telephone 305 350 1231
