On June 23, 1980, General Development Corporation made an offer to the
City of Sebastian that annually, upon a request from the City of
Sebastian, General Development Corporation would make a contribution,
riot to exceed $2,500.00, to the City of Sebastian to assist the City in
meeting its responsibility for the procurement, installation and
maintenance of traffic control devices/stop signs.
The City has recently requested that in lieu of further annual
contributions General Development Corporation make a "one time" lump
sum contribution to cover the total cost of traffic control devices/stop
signs in the City. The cost for these signs is $6,000.00.
Upon the City of Sebastian's acceptance of this letter, General
Development Corporation will tender its check in the amount of $6,000.00
to the City of Sebastian. As stated in the attached letter dated
June 23, 1980, the City acknowledges its obligation under Chapter 316,
Florida Statutes for the location, purchase, installation and maintenance
of traffic control devices as the responsibility of local government.
Also attached to this letter as Exhibit "A" is a list of platted units in

traffic control devices in Sebastian, we are pleased to extend to the
City of Sebastian a program which we have developed in the past in our
other ccununities. We have adopted a policy of assisting local govern-
ment regarding the installation of traffic control devices. We will
make a donation of up to $2,500 in any calendar year to the local
government. If your city would like to request General Development to
assist in this matteer, the city should submit a letter request to our
community manager designating the location of such traffic control
devices, the itemized cost and total cost. The community manager will
then verify that the traffic control devices are to be located within
properties developed by General Development and will approve the donation
by us of the sums requested, not to exceed $2,500.
Determination of the location, purchase, installation and maintenance of
traffic control devices is the responsibility of local government under

Control Law has statewide appplication. General will assist local
government to the extent of contributing $2,500 per year, but we will
not undertake the responsibilities of local government in this area of
determining the location, purchasing, installing or maintaining of any

REQUEST FUR EVALUATION OF NEED FOR TRAFFIC SIS
AT AND NEAR S. WIDMOW / LAKE ST. INTERSECTION,
This office received a telephone call from a resident on
Panoka Street suggesting "SLOW/CURVE" and "STOP AHEAD"
signage for north/east bound traffic on N. Barber Street at
Hardee Park. They also suggested "STOP" signs from all
directions at the intersection of Lake St. and S. Wimbrow.
The suggestion seems justified to us.
We herewith request your evaluation and advice regarding
same.
