Subject: Seawall Options
Joe,
Per our discussion with City Council yesterday eve on the Seawall Options, I will proceed in developing an engineering
plan in dealing with the Seawall situation. The plan will consider the following:
• Field review of the canal system and photos of impacted seawall
• Identify locations of impacted seawalls within the existing southern canals
• Create preliminary map (CAD Plan) of the southern canal system with impacted walls
• Map will show locations of existing seawalls and slope banks
• Drainage analysis of the proposed seawall vs grassy slope for drainage capacity
• Geotechnical assessment of sample impacted sites to identify soil conditions
• Identify phasing of the project based on impacted wall, canal features (straight to curvature) and mitigations
• Preliminary meeting with SJRWMD on the phasing and options for wetland mitigations
• Engineering cost estimate of the phases
Let me know if this is what we discussed yesterday with the City Council. If ok, it will take me a few weeks to develop
an action plan/work scope to move forward with these items. Tentative to have an engineering plan to present to the
City Council on the February 11, 2015 Council mtg.
