- v` CITY C,
Dear Mayor McCollum,
Regarding the Cross Creek annexation/zoning requests:
May 10, 2004
Last fall I launched the SOS (Save Our Streets) campaign to block the then
proposed use of Shakespeare as a means of access to the Cross Creek PUD. In the
process I gathered signatures from 30 homes in the area bounded by Shakespeare,
Lighthouse, Ocean Breeze, and Periwinkle streets who were all opposed to that
threat to the tranquility and lifestyle of our quiet neighborhood streets. It is our
position that these streets and neighborhoods were never intended to become a
means of access for the incorporated areas surrounding our city.
Since then it is my understanding that the original plans have been changed so as
to provide access to Cross Creek by two entrances located on Powerline Road.
This is as it should be.
These plans, however, are only paper and can be changed at almost any time. We
therefore request that The Council reject any plan that does not provide for future
protection against changes that would again threaten our neighborhood tranquility.
I suggest the developer be required to execute a document similar to a deed
restriction that would be binding upon all subsequent owners of that property so
that Shakespeare will be permanently rendered inaccessible to all traffic to or
from that (or any other) development.
Respectfully,
Clive Beckwit
