Subject: Lift Station Design for Restroom at Splash Pad Project
"I0
This to confirm that Joe Schulke, P.E., of SBS Engineering (mobile tel. #633-6046) will be here to meet about this with
Chris McCarthy tomorrow morning (Friday, 7 April) at 7:45 AM. Joe says if we can give him the relevant working
information tomorrow morning, he could have the lift station design done by the end of next week (14 April). At that time
the County (Mike Hotchkiss at IRCU / tel 567-8000 ext 1821) can sign off and it will go off to DEP where it will likely take
30 days (around the 3rd week in May) for DEP approval.
Terry Hill advises this will be a "private" lift station that will be maintained by the City (not IRCU). This saves about $80,000
in the cost of the lift station but does require the City to be able to handle the maintenance (need mobile generator during
power outages?).
Chris McCarthy says he is preparing a package of information, including a survey, to give to Joe Schulke so he can get
started right away.
I believe we will need to do a "Work Order" to the existing umbrella engineering services agreement we now have with
SBS. Joe estimates the cost of this lift station design / permitting to be less than $5000 if we provide the survey.
Established practice thus far is for SBS to draft the Work Order and submit it to us for further procurement system /
contract processing.
