SEBASTIAN POLICE OFFICERS' REIRUBAENT TRUST FUND
MARCH 2. 1994
The -meeting was called to offer by Ca -Chairman E. Ewert at 8:40 a.m.. Those present are
Lawrence Hardison, Marge Poole, Co- Chairman E. Ewert and Judi Chairman Grey
Gore was absent. Also present was Vince Torpy, Attorney associated with the law firm which
represents the City of Sebastian, Frere, Nash dt Torpy, P.A.
Motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting made by Eugew Ewert and seconded by Judi
Robinson.
Old Business: Gary McCarthy applying for disability under Chapter 185.34. Attorney Torpy feels
the applicant does not have claim under Chapter 185 since the application was made after his
separation from the Sebastian Police Department. Mr. Torpy offered to supply the Board with
claim forms and rules and regulations to implement same. we are to check the Ordinance
regarding benefits.
Co -Chairman Ewert made a motion authorizing Attorney Torpy to drag a letter of denial to Mr.
McCarthy. Also to draft forms and rules and motion seconded by Marge Poole.
It was stated by Attorney Torpy that it is the Board's responsibility to determine disability.
It was discussed that some benefits are related to service incurred from day 1 and other from
service due to tenure.
Discussion regarding percent of doduction to plan by officer's - not function of Board. Board is
administrator of the Plan
Motion to adjourn made by Marge Poole and seconded by Judi Robinson. Meeting adjourned at
9:30 a.m.
