Recreation Advisory Committee
September 21, 1998 7:00 PM Minutes
Chairman Richter called the meeting to Order.
Roll Call: the following members were present:
Maura Rabom - Sebastian Panthers, Inc.
Virginia Nichols - Friendly Tennis Group
Marjorie Schaub - Sebastian River Art Club
Nancy Diamond - Indian River County Parks and Recreation Liaison
Carol McConnell - Citizen -at -Large,
Larry Vickers, Alternate sitting in for Mr.Snyder
Robert Bates - Craft Club of Sebastian,
Clifford Moss, Sebastian Old Boys,
Cory Richter - Sebastian Soccer Association, Inc,
Randy Snyder - Sebastian River Area Little League, Inc., absent
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary.
Approval of Minutes August 17, 1998 - Motion to approve as written by Mrs Rabom second Mrs.
McConnell passed unanimously.
Old Business: None
Mr. Moss asked about whether the Committee had heard about any Ladies Softball Teams for sign up as he
/0011 had someone who was interested. Ms. Diamond told him to call Cliff Hoose with County Parks and
Recreation. Also Mr. Moss asked the status of the gun range for CR 512 - Mrs. Diamond stated this is a
county project and he should check with Jim Davis
New Business: Introduction of new alternate Nancy Pfister. Chairman welcomes her to the board
A motion to add to the agenda for discussion Riverview Park Expansion letter of approval was made by
Mrs. Schaub second Mrs. Diamond passed unanimously.
Amy Adams of Cape Canaveral Scientific, Inc. spoke to the committee stating she is working on a FRDAP
grant for the City so they can purchase the property immediately south of Riverview park. She stated grants
are based on a point system and a letter of approval from the Parks and Recreation committee would be
worth 20 points. She also stated that any letters from non profit organizations in the City will gain an
additional 10 points. Mr. Bates and Mrs. Schaub stated their organizations would be willing to write letters
in support as well. A motion recommending that the committee send a Letter of Approval was made by
Mr. Bates Second Mr. Moss passed unanimously.

Members Comments - None
Staff Comments - Secretary stated that it was Mr. Frame's idea if this property was acquired to try to put
up a pavilion which could serve 200 people with built in cookers. The committee felt this was a good idea.
A motion to adjourn at 7:30 PM was made by Mrs. McConnell second Ms. Diamond passed unanimously
