HomeMy WebLinkAboutStormwater Legal Ad for Aug 22 HearingNOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF SEBASTIAN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. R-12-18 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, INCREASING THE STORMWATER UTILITY FEE PURSUANT TO SECTION 102-125 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. The City Council of the City of Sebastian, Indian River County, Florida, will hold a public hearing concerning the adoption of the above referenced resolution on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 1225 Main Street, Sebastian, Florida. The purpose of this resolution is to generate an additional $186,000 for the Sebastian Stormwater Utility Fund by increasing the Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) fee from $4 per month to $5 per month, for total revenues of $1,001,000. The purpose of the increase is to stabilize the stormwater fund balance and generate additional revenue which will help the City continue stormwater maintenance programs and replace equipment. This increase would be effective throughout the City of Sebastian. The stormwater fee is collected by the Indian River Tax Collector on the annual tax bill. Failure to pay the assessment will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property which may result in a loss of title All affected property owners have a right to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the local governing board within 20 days of the notice. At the conclusion of this hearing, the City Council may adopt this resolution. Interested parties may inspect the proposed resolution in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may appear at the hearing and be heard with respect to the proposed resolution. Any person who may wish to appeal any decision which may be made by the City Council at this hearing will need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal will be based.
