Ms. O'Halloran was City Clerk from December 1986 and continued to serve in that position until her passing. She was instrumental in creating, writing and updating the Florida Municipal City Clerk's Policy Handbook which is still being used today. She will be sadly missed by all. Condolences also to Brian Grzesiak, Sign and Marking Traffic Tech. in the Engineering Department, on the death of his Mother-in-law Margie Tomasulo on October 17, 2000. UNITED WAY NEEDS OUR HELP AGAIN The United Way of Indian River is again requesting our assistance and support in making their drive a success. United Way provides many services to the community which includes building communities, strengthening families and encouraging self-sufficiency, just to name a few. They also provide shelter for the Homeless, Domestic Violence Safe Space and a 24-hour Crisis line. The list is so long, it is endless. It is much easier to give money than actually donate your time and support. Let's financially support those who have given of themselves to continue these programs. An employee can contribute to just one program of their choice, or allow United Way to distribute your donation through the Indian River County Member Agencies. A dollar a pay check(which can be done through payroll deduction), would add up to just $26.00 a year. You may even elect a one-time cash contribution. Your donation is tax deductible. Our goal this year is for 100% participation. Please give so we can make this drive a success. Please pick up a form from the Representative in your department or stop by the Human Resource Dept. SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH When Pushing: You can push twice as much as you can pull- and pushing is safer. Here's what to do: ■ Stay close to the load, but don't lean forward. ■ Use both arms and keep your elbows bent. ■ Tighten your stomach muscles to protect your back when you push. '** IT corrections are noted, please call the Huraan Resources Department **
