Because of the intense heat & humidity, this reporter

old man had learned in seven years."

He is a twenty-six year old,

Sebastian from Atlanta, Georgia
two years ago. His Bachelor of

fine city a lot. He can be seen in his leisure time on the
beach relaxing, likes to watch baseball, basketball, and
football. Tracy's favorite dish is lasagna. When asked
about his job he replied that he likes the responsibility
in Community Development. His goals are to `whip
Code Enforcement into shape." Like I said, don't
wear yourself out.
PROGRESSM
"This morning, my office visits were interrupted by a
phone call from a patient who asked, `Dr. Yarnall, can
I please have your permission to have my toenails cut?'
After appropriate inquiries on my part, I determined
that the woman needed to have paperwork completed
that would give her permission to have a health
professional cut her thickened toenails.
I confessed to her that I really don't know much
about paperwork, but that my staff would help her.
And I reassured her that whomever she found to cut
her toenails, I would "approve the procedure."
What has today's health care system come to?"
Dr. Stephen R Yarnall, MD
RED EYES?
Do you arrive at work with bright eyes and leave with
red eyes?
Blame dryness. Dry eyes are red eyes.
Solution: Use over-the-counter "artificial tears" to
moisten your eyes.
Unlike other eye drops, artificial tears do not shrink
blood vessels and they do not have to be used
sparingly.
Note that closing your eyes for seven to eight hours
for sleep rehydrates your eyes.
NOTE. Artificial tears is also a good product to
take with you on long airplane trips.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Disagreements, arguments, and verbal abuse are a
part of many normal relationships.
But when one or both people step over the line, and
there's physical violence and/or hard-core emotional
abuse, something needs to be done — FAST.
While everyone has a right to get angry, no one ever
has the right to express anger violently. And no one
has the right to hurt another person emotionally.
Some health experts believe that domestic violence
is one of America's most widespread health problems.
Although women are the most common victims (90%
of reported cases), men can be victims too.
Self Test:
YES?
❑ Have you ever been shoved, slapped, punched, kicked,
hit, or threatened by your partner?
❑ Do you believe your partner when he or she says it
won't happen again, but it does?
❑ Do you believe that you deserve to be beaten and
abused? Do you believe it's your fault?
❑ Are you isolated from friends and family members
because of your partner's jealousy?
❑ Do your partner's threats or acts of violence control
your decisions and influence your behavior?
❑ Are you afraid you have to put up with the abuse
because you can't make it on your own?
It doesn't have to be this way.
If you answered "YES" to any of the above questions, you
should call the local domestic abuse hot line (1-800-732-
2999, and/or seek professional help immediately. The City
of Sebastian offers 6 free visits to the Employee Assistance
Program, for concealing with UniPsych Corporation at 1-
800-272-3626.

DETECTING LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE
Legionnaires' disease was a mystery when it was first
spotted in 1976 at an American Legion convention.
Today, much more is known about this sometimes
deadly disease, which has struck in several workplaces
over the years. Do you know how to prevent it or
even how to recognize it? Take this quick quiz to test
your knowledge.
1. Legionnaires' disease is a form of pneumonia. True
or False?
2. The Legionella bacteria grows in warm or stagnant
water. True or False?
3. The Legionella bacteria is transmitted from one
person to another though contact with infected blood.
True or False?
4. An infected individual can experience symptoms
that mimic the flu or pneumonia. True or False?
5. There is no treatment for this sometimes fatal
disease. True or False?
6. You can prevent the buildup of Legionella through
regular maintenance of water and ventilation systems.
True or False?
ANSWERS: 1. True. It's a disease that attacks the
lungs. 2. True. It can be found in water towers, air
conditioning systems, drinking water systems and
showers. 3. False. The disease is transmitted through
the inhalation of contaminated water droplets. 4. True.
That's why it's often misdiagnosed. Initially, infected
individuals may experience headaches, muscle pain,
diarrhea, and a dry cough. Symptoms can progress to
high fever, chills, and the coughing up of thick sputum.
5. False. It's typically treaded with antibiotics, such as
erythromycin. 6. True. Regular flushings and
cleanings and the use of biocides such as chlorine, can
keep the bacteria to low levels. o

THIS `N THAT
As Gandhi stepped aboard a train one day, one of his
shoes slipped off and landed on the track.
He was unable to retrieve it as the train started
rolling.
To the amazement of his companions, Gandhi calmly
took off his other shoe and threw it back along the
track to land close to the first shoe.
Asked by a fellow passenger why he did that, Gandhi
replied. "The poor man who finds the shoe lying on the
track will now have a pair he can use. ■

You can buy people's time; you can buy their physical
presence at a given place; you can even buy a
measured number of their skilled muscular motions per
hour. But you cannot buy enthusiasm... you cannot
buy loyalty... you cannot buy the devotion of hearts,
minds, or souls. You must earn these.
