Emlovee Award On June 2, 19983, City Clerk, Kay O'Halloran was the recipient of the "Robert N. Clark Memorial Award" while attending the Florida Government Finance Officers Association/Florida Association of City Clerks Annual Conference in Boca Raton, Florida. The award is named for the late Robert N. Clark, a former City Clerk for the City of Sunrise who planted the seed that. would eventually blossom into the creation of the Florida Association of City Clerks, Inc. in 1972. Its purpose was to gather and disseminate information to improve procedures and efficiency of the administration of municipal government; to strive for greater educational standards, and to increase the efficiency of the city clerks' function; and to provide a forum to discuss problems of mutual concern. The Association grew and prospered; and in 1975, the leaders of the Association responded to the necessity for preparation of a manual to address the various duties and responsibilities of City Clerk's throughout the State of Florida. The manual was a cooperative effort of many persons and agencies including a group of eight City Clerks who assisted in planning and reviewing part of the Work of the first manual. One of the eight clerks recognized was Kay Borgemenke (now O'Halloran), and another was Robert - Clark. The Florida City Clerks Manual received the "Award of Excellence" from the International Institute of City Clerks in 1979. The Robert N. Clark Memorial Award, established in 1988, annually recognizes a Florida City Clerk for promoting and advancing the ideals and goals of the City Clerks' profession. Congratulations Kay! NOTE: Kay O'Halloran has been the City Clerk for the City of Sebastian since 12/08/86. A cup of dry instant oatmeal, a half cup of baking soda, or a few cups of mills added to bath water also helps soothe. For a first-degree burn, apply a cold compress, or run it under cold water until the pain stops. • Do not apply ointment, cream, oil, spray, or any household remedy to a burn; this can retain the heat and/or slow the healing. It is OK to use a moisturizing cream in the drying/peeling stage of a sunburn. • Take aspirin or acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) for pain, following dosage directions. • Do not pop blisters (infection could result). • Protect the burn from pressure and friction (i.e., wear lightweight, loose -fitting clothing). • Call your doctor if there is fever, dizziness, or visual problems, or if a bum is still painful after 48 hours. • Get medical help immediately for blistering burns that are extensive, or are on the face, hands, or feet. 1MGS FIRS REALLY WANT • "Stop talking on the phone and talk to me." • `Keep your promises better." • "Put your seat belt on, and I'll do the same for my kids." • "Think about when you were a kid and don't yell so much." • "Say, `I love you' once in a while — not just when I'm leaving for school." • "Give me things to look forward to." • "Treat me like you treat your customers" • "Say, `It would help if you do it this way,' instead of `You are doing it wrong.'" • Give me more free time.
