Carbon Monoxide
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning hills at least 200
Americans a year, and sends another 5,000 to hospital
emergency rooms.
CO is a colorless, odorless gas that's produced by
burning fuels.
Initial symptoms of CO poisoning are similar to the
flu —dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, and irregular
breathing.
Poisoning can be prevented by having a yearly
professional inspection of your home fuel -burning
appliances, and by installing a CO detector.

V Childrens' test scores improve significantly
when they eat a meal just 30 minutes before a test.
Eating two hours before a test does not appear to
improve kids' cognitive abilities.

Ode To A Dispatcher
A dispatcher stood at the Pearly Crate
With a face worn, wrinkled, and old,
And meekly asked the man of faith
. For admission to the fold.
"What have you done," Saint Peter asked,
"To seek admission here?"
"I was a dispatcher down on earth
For many and many a year."
Oh, the gates were opened sharply,
And Saint Peter rang the bell.
"Come in and grab a harp," he said,
"For you've seen enough of Hell."

All to often, dispatchers are the forgotten affected co-
worker. COPS wants each and every dispatcher across
this nation to know we appreciate the life -line they
provide to law enforcement and we do know they suffer
each and every time an officer goes down.
