What have we done today?
We shall do so much in the years to come, but
what have we done today?
We shall give our gold in a pricely sum, but what
did we give today.
We shall lift the heart and dry the tear,
We shall plant a hope in the place of fear,
We shall speak the words of love and cheer, but
what did we speak today?
We shall be so kind in the afterwhile, but what
have we been today?
We shall bring each lonely life a smile, but what
have we brought today?
We shall give a truth a grander birth,
And to steadfast faith a deeper worth,
We shall feed the hungering souls of earth, but
whom have we fed today?
We shall reap such joys in the by and by, but
what have we sown today?
We shall build us mansions in the sky, but what
have we built today?
"Tis sweet in the idle dreams to bask, but here and
now, do we do our task?
Yes, this is the thing our souls must ask, "What
have we done Today." ❑

SUPERVISOR TO WORKER

the office very late."
WORKER TO SUPERVISOR
"Yes, sir, but you will notice that I leave the office
very early."

Smoking
NOT SO FUNNY
Tobacco Spokesperson..
• "We have developed a new cigarette...
• "With almost no annoying smoke — not that
smoke is annoying...
• "And 90% less of the cancer-causing tars — not
that the tars in our other cigarettes cause cancer...
• "But it still has 100% of the nicotine — not that
nicotine is the addictive part."

MENTAL FLOSS?
❑ If you had to name the one most important
ingredient of human beauty, what would you say it
is?
❑ If you were to prescribe a cure for grief, what
would it entail?
❑ If you were to have bells ring out loud
automatically (for all to hear) every time you did a
certain thing, what would it be?
❑ If you had to name a smell that always makes you
nostalgic, what would it be?
❑ Ifyou could keep only one book you currently own,
which would you choose?
❑ If you suddenly found the courage to do one thing
you have always been afraid of doing, what would
you want it to be?
❑ If you could change one thing about your typical
day, what would it be?
❑ If you were to pick the one thing that always makes
your smile, what would it be?

TODA Y'S REALITY
CHRONIC CARE
"It's ironic that in the hospital, everyone has a title
and a job description.
"Heaven forbid that you give your husband an
aspirin, because only the nurses are allowed to give
patients their medication.
"But, the day you go home, you're supposed to be
able to provide all the care all the time, with no backup
and precious little support.
"And most of it has to be paid for out-of-pocket.
"Neither our health insrance nor Medicare will pay
for the basic long-term home care that my husband
needs to survive."❑

WANTED...
'Small Eyes
How many time have you been told that your eyes are
bigger than your stomach?
Clearly, when we're hungry we tend to pile on the
food as we visualize the complete satisfaction of our
hunger.
There are double -sized servings. Second and third
helpings. Extra items that we might not even really want.
When food's attractively prepared, it all looks good
and it all smells good. We want to have lots of
everything
...and we fall into excess without even
remembering -when we passed through satisfaction.
If you're interested in losing excess weight, it's
important that you develop "small eyes."
Using smaller plates, bowls, and silverware is a
must. Even small servings look big on these.
Consider the difference between serving ice cream
in a dainty dessert bowl and eating it with a teaspoon —
vs. serving ice cream in a cereal bowl and eating it with
a serving spoon!
Eat slowly, maybe to relaxing music.
Enjoy every bite before you swallow.
Don't watch TV or read while you eat —just eat.
Prevent "feeding frenzies" by eating meals and
planned snacks on time.
Eating is a habit, and habits can be changed by
Practicing new behaviors over and over.
While it may be difficult (impossible?) to change
other people's habits, we can always take responsibility
for our own.
Practice having "small eyes."

American College of Cardiology
THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM KIDS
❑ You can be anything you want to be when you
grow up.
❑ Nobody can pedal the bice for you.
❑ Ifyou wait until you're REALLY sure, you'll never
takeoff your training wheels.
❑ Nobody notices when your zipper is up, but
everyone notices when your zipper is down.
❑ Sometimes you have to take the test before you've
finished studying.
❑ If you're going to fight, use pillows.
❑ Before you trade sandwiches, check between the
bread.
❑ You have to eat a lot of cereal before you fine the
free toy.
❑ If you want a kitten, start out asking for a horse.
❑ You don't have to own a swing to enjoy it.
❑ It doesn't matter how fast you're running with the
ball if you're going the wrong direction.
❑ Sometimes the biggest apple has the biggest worm.
❑ Every castle has a dungeon.
❑ A little kiss can make a big difference.

Barbie Doll
V To look like a Barbie doll, the average young
American woman's hip measurement is OK. But she'd
have to grow 12" taller, add 4" to her bustline, and lose
5" around her waist. (There's also the problem of having
to stand on tiptoes forever.)
