S IAL SECURITY
Consider the following news
article a warning from the
S o c i a l S e c u r i t y
Administration...
"To err is common for Social
Security - Officials urge
workers to double-check
records. The Social Security
Administration is making so
many errors in recording
individual's earnings under the
Social Security system that it
urges everyone still paying
into the system to check on the
accuracy of his accounts every
two or three years.
For 1978, Social Security is
making 3 million corrections...
For 1979, Social Security is
making 2 million corrections...
For 1980, Social Security is
correcting 2 million errors
found so far.
For 1981, Social Security has
barely started the routine
recording of earnings so nobody
knows how many mistakes will
develop...
Each employee ...has a
responsibility for making sure
that his own record at Social
Security is correct..."
Reminder: Social Security
normally does not make
corrections after three years,
three months, and 15 days.
Only YOU can insure that your
social security records are
correct by reviewing your
records every three years.
Stop by the City Manager's
Office to pick up a form to
fill out requesting your
earnings and benefits estimate
statement from Social Security,
before it's too late!
