WISE CURES FOR A LEAN WALLET
If you regularly have problems
making ends meet from pay day
to pay day, you should follow
the advice listed below from
the magazine called Loose
Change.
1. Save a little. For every
ten dollars, spend only nine
dollars. Put the dollar away
and watch how quickly your
savings grows.
2. Control your expenditures.
Budget expenses to pay for the
necessities and for sheer
enjoyments, without spending
more than 9/10ths of your
wages.
3. Make your money multiply.
Put your savings to good use,
(ie. savings, investments,
bonds) so it reproduces itself
through interest.
4. Guard against losses.
Invest only when the principal
is safe, where it can be
reclaimed, if desirable, and
where you can collect a fair
rate of return.
5. Own your own home, it is a
profitable investment.
6. Insure a future income.
Provide in advance for your
retirement. Increase your
contribution to your deferred
compensation plan.
7. Learn more about your
investment opportunities.
Read, take courses, listen to
financial advisors.

DID YOU KNOW?
According to the Tax Foundation
in Washington, D. C., an
independent tax agency, Tax
Freedom Day was celebrated the
first week of May last year. --
The average wage earner will
need to work from the beginning
of the year through May 5 to
pay federal income taxes,
Social Security, Medicare,
state taxes, sales and excise
taxes, property taxes and
corporate taxes (which are
ultimately passed on to
consumers). What does that
means to us? For every dollar
you earn, almost 35 cents goes
to pay taxes!

YOU ARE THE COMPANY
We've all heard the expression,
"You are the Company",
recognizing that every employee
has the power to influence
customers and customer
satisfaction.
The City is no different. Each
of us has the power to make the
customers (ie. the Public) of
the City feel happy or
dissatisfied. A careless word,
an indifferent attitude, can
ruin a customer relationship
forever. On the other hand, if
you're helpful, honest, and
concerned, people will be
impressed with you and the
City.
Successful companies know that
customers form an impression of
them on the basis of each
encounter with their employees.
That's why they treat every
customer contact as a moment of
truth, a time when a
relationship can be made or
broken.
To a customer, you are the
Company, no matter what your
job. Treat customers with
respect when you encounter
them. And recognize that YOU
ARE IMPORTANT. YOUR ATTITUDE
DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
QUOTABLE QUOTE
"An optimist is a person who
sees a green light everywhere,
while the pessimist -sees only
the red stoplight. The truly
wise person is color blind."
-Albert Schweitzer
"Last Halloween, one kid showed
up at my door dressed as an IRS
agent. It was very authentic.
He took 408 of our candy."

BEER
if you drink two cans of beer a
day, and don't increase your
activity level, you can add 31
pounds to your weight over the
course of a year.
