CALL TO ORDER Meeting called .to order at 5:05 p.m. by Harry DiSalvio, Chairman. Present: Harry DiSalvio Catherine Ackerman Robert Browning Kdth Miller Patrick Brennan - Public Works Director Absent: Herbert Albrecht - excused Phil Bowers - Human Resource Director - excused 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - January 7, 1998 Approval of the minutes were postponed until the next meeting. 3. OLD BUSINESS A. PROGRESS REPORT ON NORTH COUNTY OFFICE COMPLEX HANDICAPPED ACCESSiBILITY - KEITH MILLER Keith received two letters from Beth Jordan, Risk Manager, Board of County Commissioners which were presented to the committee. These letters state the restrooms in the Sebastian Square combined offices of the Clerk, Property Appraiser, Utilites and Veterans Services are now handicap accessible. A lengthy discussion followed. Keith made comments regarding the anticipated move of the Property Appraiser to another location in Sebastian. HANDICAPPED SELF-EVALUATION COMMITTEE MEETING APRIL 1, 1998 PAOE 2 B. C~ Ackennan inquired whether the exhaust fan had been installed in the restroom in Ri~ Park and Pat Brennen responded that this project has been completed. C. Herb Albrecht left a memo to he distributed to the committee regarding the current stares on ~ parking ta~. Discu~ion followed on this subject. 4. 'NEW BUSINESS A. CHAMBF, R OF COMMERCE BUILDING ACCESSIBILITIY Kei~h Miller stated he looked into the accessibility situation at the new Chamber of Commerce and found that there were steps leading to the door of the Chamber but the eatrance to the I~storical Society had a ramp leading to their door which was not a~aasi~ to the C~ if the Historical Society was clo~ed. Discus~o foltowod on what needed to be done to bring the whole building into compliance. The~ wa~ a di~oss~n on how ~ of the Handicapped Committee could be identifu~ when out in public and nddressing various violatiom and the idea of a picture ~ Ackerman made a motion, seconded by Keith Miller that members of the Hendic~Pi~t Self-Evniu~tion Committee have their picture taken for a I,D. badge identifying them ns ~s of the committee and representatives of the City of Sel~n~ien. A voice vote wns taken with nil in favor. Keith Mill~ discussed the ~ecurity or lack of security at the North County Office Complex. Cath~ne Ackerman complimented Pat Brennan nmi hi~ department on ali the nice work that has been done in Riverview Park with the Ipills and beoches, and throul~mt the City: There was di~ussion regardin~ handicap accessibility at Captain I-Iirnms Restaurant.
