Wendy and John reviewed the walkways at Riverview Park and
decided there is a need for improvements to make them wider
in certain areas so two wheelchairs would be able to pass
each other. It should not cost much to make these improvements.
There are also some improvements needed at the Yacht Club
Pier along the main walk and seawall where there is a
separation which is potentially dangerous. New lights are
going to be installed on the pier and various ideas on types
and size were suggested.
UPDATE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE - ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING BOARD:
This Ordinance has not been updated due to our Attorney's
time frame but will be brought up again and made a priority
and hopefully we will have information on this soon.
5. NEW BUSINESS
Letters were received from Richard Votapka, Public Works
Director and John Malek, Chairman, 4th of July Committee,
regarding needed handicapped parking spaces for the July 4th
events. It was suggested that Harrison Street be the
designated area for this parking and discussion followed on
how many spaces are needed, how to properly mark them as
handicapped and how to control the parking. A designated
"drop off zone" was also suggested as a way to handle parking.
Mr. Kanfoush suggested a 4th of July committee member be
designated to enforce parking. Discussion followed with
the consensus being to request all vertical parking spots on
Harrison Street be designated Handicapped parking spots.
Harry DiSalvio mentioned a program that Ford Motor Company
has that reimburses a customer up to $750.00 if handicapped
equipment is installed in a new vehicle. They also issue a
cellular phone to the customer.
