CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by John Kanfoush, Chairman. Present: John Kanfoush George Schum Catherine Ackerman Phillip Foster Joanne Sandberg - Recording Secretary Absent: Edra Young - excused Harry DiSalvio - excused Wendy Widmann - excused 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - October 11, 1995 Motion by Catherine Ackerman and seconded by Phillip Foster to approve the minutes of October 11, 1995 as written. 3. OLD BUSINESS UPDATE OF BARBER STREET SPORTS COMPLEX: John Kanfoush stated he thought the bid for the Barber Street Sports Complex would probablY be awarded at the City Council Meeting tonight. Phillip Foster inquired about a previous discussion of exchanging the handicapped accessible portalet at Hardee Park with the non-accessible one at the Sports Complex. He also mentioned that there is a van accessible parking spot at the Sports Complex but it is not properly markedas such. DECEMBER 6, 1995 PAGE 2 UPE~TE OF YACHT CIAI~ RRNOVATXONS: It is not feasible to enlarge the Yacht Club so only the restrooms will be renovated. The City's first priority is to renovate the Co~unity Center before starting work on the Yacht Club. 4. NEW BUSINESS John Kanfoush stated that the City of Sebastian has done a great job of updating their handicapped parking signs and bringing the~ into compliance and suggested Wendy contact Veto Beach officials to ~et them to do the same in their city. He also mentioned that the Police Department will now start issuing tickets for handicapped parking violations. Catherine Acker~an mentioned that some of the benches and sidewalks in Riverview Park have been fixed but wondered when the concrete runoff for the wheelchairs would be completed. Phillip stated that there are drop offs along the sidewalks in the park that are dangerous for people in wheelchairs and wondered what could be done about it. Catherine said she was going to write a letter to the City Council regarding putting a pay phone in Riverview Park. Discussion followed. Suggestions for new projects were requested. It was decided that if the public had a question or complaint Wendy shouldbe the first one contacted and then referred to the co~ittee for follow-up if ~e~ted. Catherine noted that the men's restroom in the dining area of Hurricane Harbor was not accessible and John wondered how we could approach the subject. MEETINGS SCHEDULE - 1996 It was decided to have meetings on the first Wednesday of the month on a "as needed" basis.
