VICE-CHAIRMAN CLIFF HOOSE CALLED THE MEETING TO O~ER AT 7:00
P.M.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
MOTION BY GEORGE SCHUM, SECONDED BY NATE MCCOLLUM, TO APPROVE THE
MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 11, 1987 MINUTES AS PRESENTED.

LITTLE LEAGUE LEASE
RANDY SNYDER AND ROBERT BROCK OF THE LITTLE LEAGUE WERE
PRESENT TO SPEAK TO THE COMMITTEE. RANDY SNYDER SAID HE
THOUGHT THE EXISTING LEASE WAS UNFAIR TO THE LITTLE LEAGUE.
AFTER A LENGTHY DISCUSSION THE FOLLOWING MOTION WAS MADE=
MOTION BY IRENE TRAFICANTE, SECONDED BY GEORGE SCHUM, TO
MODIFY THE LITTLE LEAGUE LEASE TO EVERYONE'S SATISFACTION.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: ALL
CLIFF HOOSE SUGGESTED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SUB-COMMITTEETO
MEET WITH THE LITTLE LEAGUE. THE FOLLOWING WERE CHOSEN:
LINDA KINCHEN, IRENE TRAFICANTE, DAVID UNDERILL AND CLIFF
HOOSE AS ALTERNATE.
CLIFF HOOSE TOLD THE LITTLE LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVES THAT
CHAIRPERSON LINDA KINCHEN WOULD CONTACT TO SET UP A TIME.
RONNIE BROCK SAID TRYOUTS WERE FEBRUARY 2 AND GAMES WOULD
START AT THE BEGINNING OF MARCH.
GEORGE SCHUM SAID REPAIR ON THE BOAT RAMP AT THE YACHT CLUB WAS
VOTED DOWN BY THE COUNTY BUT IS ON THEIR AGENDA AGAIN NEXT MONTH.
NONE ·
GENE DOTY WAS ABSENT.
NONE.
DAVID UNDERILL REQUESTED A SIGN OF THANKS FOR NORTH COUNTY
RECREATION AND THE CiViC ASSOCIATION FOR THE FITNESS TRAIL. HE
SAID HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE PARKS AND RECREATION SPONSOR A RUN
ENDING AT THE FITNESS TRAIL POSSIBLY IN OCTOBER. HE SAID HE
WOULD LOOK INTO iT AND BRING BACK INFORMATION AT THE FEBRUARY
1987 MEETING.
MOTION BY LONNIE POWELL, SECONDED BY DAVID UNDERILL, TO WRITE TO
MARY DECHAINE QUESTIONING HER INTENTIONS ON ATTENDANCE AT PARKS
AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
ALL AYES:
DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE ON REVENUES FROM THE BARBER STREET
CONCESSION.
MOTION BY LONNIE POWELL, SECONDED BY DAVID UNDERILL, TO REQUEST
THE RECREATION COORDINATOR IN HIS MONTHLY REPORT TO PARKS AND
RECREATION ON THE AMOUNT OF REVENUES FROM BARBER STREET
CONCESSION TAKEN IN AND TURNED OVER TO CITY, INCLUDING FINES.
ALL AYES:
NONE ·
GEORGE SCHUM REQUESTED THAT IN FUTURE CHRISTMAS PARADES THERE BE
AN ALTERNATE SANTA CLAUSE, THAT SANTA'S SLEIGH BE BETTER LIT AND
THAT THERE BE NO OTHER SANTAS IN THE PARADE.
CLIFF HOOSE SAID GENE DOTY HAD REQUESTED HIM TO THE COMMITTEE ON
SOFTBALL. HE SAID HE DOES ANTICIPATE WOMEN'S SOFTBALL BUT MEN~S
HAS FALLEN THROUGH. HE SAID THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN
INSTALLED AT THE BARBER STREET BALLFIELD.
LONNIE POWELL ASKED IF ANYONE WANTED TO HELP ON THE LITTLE LEAGUE
BALLFIELD.
MOTION BY NATE MCCOLLUM, SECONDED BY LONNIE POWELL, TO ADJOURN THE
MEETING.
ALL AYES:
VICE-CHAIRMAN HOOSE ADJOURNED THE MEETING AT 9:00 P.M.
SECRETARY WAS REQUESTED TO MAKE SCHUMANN DRIVE RACQUETBALL COURTS
AND AGENDA ITEM FOR FEBRUARY.
