OLD BUSINESS: APPROVE MINUTES OF APRIL 29, 1986. GEORGE SCHUM NOTED THAT HIS NAME WAS LEFT OUT UNDER "PRESENT" ON PAGE 1. HE ALSO NOTED THAT ON PAGE 2 UNDER "SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS" HIS SHOULD REPORT SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED,"FINANCE DIRECTOR SHOULD PURSUE MATTER PER TOMMY THOMAS." A VERBATIM TRANSCRIPT OF THAT SECTION HAD BEEN PRESENTED TO THE COMMITTEE BEFORE THE MEETING. MOTION BY CLIFF HOOSE, SECONDED BY GEORGE SCRUM, TO APPROVE MINUTES OF APRIL 29, 1986 MEETING AS AMENDED. ALL AYES: MOTION CARRIED. BOAT TRAILER STICKERS GEORGE SCRUM STATED THAT THE PARKING AREA SHOULD BE OBTAINED BEFORE THE COMMITTEE GETS INTO THE STICKERS. LIASON COUNCILMAN MCCARTHY BROUGHT SAMPLES OF WATERPROOF STICKERS AND PRICES TO THE MEETING. HE STATED THAT HE HAD SEEN A LOT OF CARS IN THE LOTS WITHOUT TRAILERS AND QUESTIONED WHE HER THE COMMITTE OUGHT TO LOOK INTO CAR STICKERS. LINDA KINCHEN STATED THAT SINCE HOWARD CARSWELL WAS NOT AT THE MEETING AND HE HAD PLANNED TO PURSUE THE MATTER, IT SHOULD BE POSTPONED. MOTION BY LONNIE POWELL, SECONDED BY GEORGE SCRUM TO TABLE THE MATTER UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING. f"N COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE'S REPORT GEORGE SCRUM STATED THAT THE COUNTY WAS GETTING AN ENGINEER IN JUNE OUT TO WIMBROW PARK TO SEE IF NEW RESTROOMS CAN BE BUILT. THEY HAVE MADE UP THEIR BUDGET AND WANT INPUT FROM THIS COMMITTEE. HESAID HE HAD Bk~N TOLD THAT KATHLEEN MCCARTHY HAD RESIGNED AS REPRESENTATIVE. ~ORTH COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE' S REPORT KA%HLEEN MCCAR~ STATED THAT THE LAST TWO MEETINGS OFT HE NORTH COUNTY RECREATION HAVE BEEN BUDGET MEETINGS. SHE STATED THAT SHE HAS BEEN IN TOUC}{ WITH KAREN ECONOMU, COULD NOT ATI~END %HE LAST TWO MEETINGS, AND THAT SINCE HER HUSBAND .WAS VICE PRESIDM~rf OF ~ COM~fITTEE SHE KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON. ~ MCCARTHY WtlqT ON TO SAY THAT THERE IS $2000.00 IN %'dE BUDGET FOR PLAYGROUND EQUIPM~qT AND IF %~HE COUNTY APPROVES A PORTION OF IT CAN BE USED FOR ~HE.BARBER ST. FIELD. RECREATION COORDINATOR' S REPORT EUGENE DOTY STATED ~HAT THE'WOM~IN'S SOFTBAI.~. LEAGUE WOULD BE UNDERWAY TME NEXT NIGHT; THERE ARE SEVEN TEAMS AND APPROXIMATELY NINEIY PLAYERS. WOMEN'S:NIGHTS HAVE BEEN SWITCI~ED TO MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS. MEN'S SOFIBALL ORGANIZATION MEETING WAS ID ~rf FOR THIS COMING ~]-R1RSDAY NIGHT IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 7:00 P.M; THERE SHOULD BE EIGHT 'TEAMS AND MAY BE NEEDING ANOTHER FIELD. EUGEIN-E DOTY SAID THAT HE PLANS TO SET UP A MANAGERS MEETING TO DISCUSS WORK 'ON THE NEW FIELD. HE SAID NO VO~ HAS BEEN SCHED~ SINCE 'THE NORTH COUNTY 1S UNDERWAY. HE ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT ON ~HE SATORDAY FOIJLOWING SOFIBALL LEAGUE PLAY THERE WOULD BE A DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT. COMMITTEE MATTERS COUNCILMAN MCCARTHY EXPLAINED THAT DAN PREUSS ASKED TO BE EXCUSED FROM THIS MEETING. WHEN ASKED ABOUT PAINTING WHEELSTOPS AT RiVERVIEW PARK' BY GEORGE SCh'UM, LINDA TOLD HIM THAT THE PAINT WAS BEING DELIVERED. KAT}~.F.k~N MCCARIHY TOLD HIM THAT THE NORIH COUNTY RECREATION COb~MITrEE WILL PAY HE W~ ON TO EXPLAIN THAT LITILE IY_A~UE HAS BF~ ASKED TO ST ~A~IT A GIRLS LEAGUE, AND THAT THE FIELD WOULD ALSO BE AVAILABLE FOR WOMEN'S SOFTBAIL.~ HE ASKED CDb~iTTEE TO PUT $10,000.00 ON THEIR BUDGET FOR THE COMING YEAR ABO~E AND BEYOND WHAT 2/4E CITY AI/RF_ADY PROVIDES FOR ~ LITILE LEAGUE. LONNIE POWELL STATED THAT THE LITTLE LEAGUE HAS GONE DOWN IN THE' PAST FEW YEARS AND THAT IS WHY IT IS SO COSTLY TO BRING IT BACK UP. KATHLEEN MCCARTHY SAID THAT IN 19.78 %/-IE SCHOOL BOARD .TURNED 'OVER IHE USE OF FIELD TO THE LITILE LEAGUE AND SINCE IHEN IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN DONE BY DONATED TIME WITH LITILE HELP FROM THE CITY. SHE~ SAID THE CITY HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ITS CHILDREN. GEORGE SCHUM SAID THAT THE ~TrEE SHOULD DO EVERYTHING IT:CANTO HELP OUT LITILE LEAGUE AND SAWNO REASON WHY $10,000.00 CAN'T BE FOUND IN qTHE BURET.
