ROLL CALL: PRESENT: NATE MCCOLLUM IRENE TRAFICANTE GEORGE SCHUM GENE DOTY CLIFF HOOSE LINDA KINCHEN, CHAIRPERSON ABSENT: DAN PREUSS DAVID UNDERILL ROBERT MCCARTHY, LIASION EXCUSED: LONNIE POWELL HOWARD CARSWELL MARY DE CHAINE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. SUBCOMMITTEE REPQRTS COUNTY REPRESENTATIVES REPORT GEORGE SCHUM STATED HE HAD BROUGHT EVERYONE UP TO DATE ON THE DALE WIMBROW RESTROOMS AT THE LAST MEETING. NORTH CQUNTY REPRESENTATIVE'S REPORT LINDA KINCHEN ANNOUNCED THAT THERE STILL WAS NO ONE TO FILL THE POSITION AND A DECISION WOULD BE MADE AT THE NEXT MEETING. RECREATION COORDINATOR GENE DOTY STATED THAT MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SOFTBALL HAD BROUGHT IN OVER $5000.00 SO FAR AND $2800.00 HAD BEEN PAID OUT OF THAT AMOUNT. HE SAID THAT YOUTH SOFTBALL REGISTRATION AGES 7 - 15 HAD BEEN STARTED. HE SAID WOMEN'S SOFTBALL WOULD FINISH WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1986 AND WERE READY TO START A NEW SEASON. APPROVE MINUTES - aULY Z2.L 1986 IRENE TRAFICANTE STATED THAT ON PAGE 7, PARAGRAPH 4, FIRST SENTENCE 1, THE WORD "TAKING" SHOULD BE "GETTING". (IN CHECKING THE TAPE THE WORD, "TAKING" WAS USED.) SHE SAID IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, AFTER THE SECOND TO LAST LINE, TO ADD " THIS WOULD SAVE THE CITY MONEY ON FENCING IN TWO FIELDS INSTEAD OF THE PROPOSED THREE FIELDS" (IN CHECKING TAPE I DID NOT FIND THIS _SENTENCE, BUT SHE DID SAY "SAVE THE CITY FIVE GRAND WHICH THEN LED INTO SENTE CE - F-IVE, IN --PARAGRAPH FOUR)_ SHE SAID IN PARAGRAPH 9, TO ADD, "AND GIRLS AS YOUNG AS NINE*ANU "PrAY=-lN--FE=MERE AS LATE AS EIGHT TO TEN ON SCHOOL NIGHTS". (IN CHECKING TAPE SHE DID SAY "KIDS" AND "AS LATE AS EIGHT TO TEN") SHE THEN QUESTIONED PAGE 9, SECOND PARAGRAPH, WHY SHE ASKED WHY THE CITY DOES NOT MAINTAIN MAIN STREET FIELD. (IN CHECKING THE TAPE, SHE STATED, "I DIDN'T GET THE ANSWER TO ONE OF MY QUESTIONS, WHY DOES THE CITY MAINTAIN BARBER STREET AND SCHUMANN DRIVE AND NOT MAIN STREET THEN?") SHE THEN STATED THAT IN PARAGRAPH THREE 1 /"N PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES AUGUST 26, 1986 PG. 2 "LITTLE LEAGUE" SHOULD BE REPLACED BY "ALL KIDS". MOTION BY CLIFF HOOSE, SECONDED BY GEORGE SCHUM, TO APPROVE THE JULY 291 19861 MINUTES AS AMENDED. CHAIRMAN'S MATTERS LINDA KINCHEN STATED THAT THE CUT BUDGET OF $63,025.00 WAS APPROVED BY COUNCIL. SHE SAID THE BUDGET INCLUDES THE SECOND FIELD AT BARBER WITHOUT LIGHTS. WHEN QUESTIONED BY CLIFF HOOSE, SHE SAID THE MONEY FOR LITTLE LEAGUE HAD BEEN CUT OUT EXCEPT FOR SOD AND POSSIBLY $1000.00. SHE SAID LETTERS TO PROPERTY OWNERS SURROUNDING BARBER STREET HAD BEEN SENT AND THERE WERE TWO RESPONSES FOR $10,000. AND $7,000. COMMITTEE'S MATTERS MOTION BY CLIFF HOOSE, SECONDED BY NATE MCCOLLUM, TO PUT ACTION ON THE RECREATION COORDINATOR ON THE SEPTEMBER AGENDA. WHEN QUESTIONED BY NATE MCCOLLUM IF GENE DOTY MINDS WAITING A MONTH, GENE DOTY SAID NO. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: NATE MCCOLLUM IRENE TRAFICANTE GEORGE SCHUM GENE DOTY CLIFF HOOSE LINDA KINCHEN MOTIQN_ CARRIED DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE ON THE NEW BALLFIELD AT BARBER STREET. MOTION BY CLIFF HOOSE, SECONDED BY GENE DOTY, TO RECOMMEND TO COUNCIL THE USE OF FIELD USE PERMITS WITH A CHARGE OF $5.00 FOR THE USE OF SCHUMANN FIELD EXCEPT DURING SCHEDULED LEAGUE GAMES. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: NATE MCCOLLUM IRENE TRAFICANTE GEORGE SCHUM GENE DOTY CLIFF HOOSE LINDA KINCHEN MOTION CARRIED DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE ON SOLICITING SALES ON CITY PROPERTY. GENE DOTY STATED THAT HE HAD TO STOP IT AT BARBER FIELD AND WAS TOLD BY GERALD NAPPI THAT IT IS AGAINST THE LAW. MOTION BY NATE MCCOLLUM, SECONDED BY IRENE TRAFICANTE, TO RECOMMEND TO COUNCIL THE COLLECTION OF 12% OF ALL REVENUES FROM SCHUMANN FIELD AS IS PRESENTLY DONE AT BARBER STREET. MOTION BY IRENE TRAFICANTE, SECONDED BY CLIFF HOOSE, TO PUT PROPOSED ATV, ATC, GO CART TRACK ON THE SEPTEMBER AGENDA. SECRETARY WAS ASKED TO CHECK WITH CITY ATTORNEY ON INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH A TRACK AND HAVE HIS OPINION FOR THE SEPTEMBER MEETING. SECRETARY WAS ASKED TO HAVE A LIST OF CITY PROPERTIES THAT COULD BE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
