NATE MCCOLLUM STATED THAT ON PAGE 2, AMENDMENT TO MOTION ON
CONCESSION STAND REVENUES, THE WORD "THEIR" SHOULD BE "LITTLE
LEAGUE".
MOTION BY CLIFF HOOSE, SECONDED BY GEORGE SCHUM, TO APPROVE THE
MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 26, 19861 MEETING AS AMENDED.

DISCUSSION OF THE APPLICANTS AND THE SALARY FOR THE POSITION TOOK
PLACE.
LINDA KINCHEN STATED THAT THE ONLY CURRENT APPLICATION WAS FROM
CLIFF HOOSE AND THAT GENE DOTY SAID HE WOULD STAY ON AS
RECREATION COORDINATOR.
MOTION BY DAVID UNDERILL, SECONDED BY NATE MCCOLLUM, TO PLACE
INTERVIEWS FOR THE RECREATION COORDINATOR ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA.

DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE ON LOCATION AND INSURANCE RATES FOR A
TRACK. IRENE TRAFICANTE SAID SHE WOULD CHECK INTO THE LOCATION
FURTHER AND DAVID UNDERILL SAID HE WOULD CHECK INTO INSURANCE
RATES. THIS ITEM WAS PLACED ON THE OCTOBER AGENDA.

MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 30, 1986, MINUTES.

IRENE TRAFICANTE SAID THE PROPERTY OFF ENGLAR WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DAVID UNDERILL SAID HE HAD SPOKEN WITH AN INDEPENDENT INSURANCE
AGENT AND WAS TOLD NO ONE WOULD WANT TO TOUCH THE TRACK. HE SAID
THAT HE WAS TOLD BY BRIAN CATRELL THAT THERE WOULD BE A $10,000.
MINIMUM PREMIUM THROUGH ADJUSTCO.
MOTION BY LONNIE POWELL, SECONDED BY IRENE TRAFICANTE, TO TABLE
ACTION ON THE ATV TRACK UNTIL A LATER DATE.

GEORGE SCHUM SAID REPAIRS WERE NEEDED ON RAMP AT THE YACHT CLUB.
HE SAID THE COUNTY HAD CORRECTED A SIMILIAR PROBLEM AND JIM DAVIS
AND MR. PELTIER WERE MEETING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HE
WOULD BE REQUESTING FUNDING FROM THE COUNTY FOR THE REPAIR.
GEORGE SCHUM ALSO SAID THAT HE HAD MADE A MOTION TO GET STARTED
ON THE POSSIBILITY OF THE COUNTY ACQUIRING 14 3/10 ACRES OF BEACH
PROPERTY TWO MILES NORTH OF WABASSO, FOR A PARK.

GERALD NAPPI, CHAIRMAN OF THE 4TH OF JULY COMMITTEE, PRESENTED
FOUR SETS OF HORSESHOES TO PARKS AND RECREATION FOR THE BARBER
STREET FIELD. LINDA KINCHEN SAID THE COMMITTEE HAD ALSO DONATED
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT TO THE FIELD. MR. NAPPI SAID THE COMMITTEE
HAD DONATED APPROXIMATELY $3800 WORTH OF EQUIPMENT TO THE CITY
AND HE HOPED THAT THIS WAS JUST A START. THE PARKS AND REC
CLIFF HOOSE ASKED THAT A LETTER OF THANKS BE SENT TO THE 4TH OF
JULY COMMITTEE.
CQMMITTEE MATTERS
IRENE TRAFICANTE SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS
BE REVISED, BECAUSE THEY ARE INSUFFICIENT. LINDA KINCHEN SAID
THAT RECOMMENDATION WOULD HAVE TO BE BROUGHT TO THE CITY COUNCIL.
DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ON CITY COUNCIL TURNING DOWN THE REQUEST FOR
A PARKS AND RECREATION SPONSORED ANTIQUES SHOW. COUNCILMAN
MCCARTHY EXPLAINED THAT COUNCIL FELT THAT SPONSORING AN
INDIVIDUAL GROUP WAS SETTING A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT AND COUNCIL
HAD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AGAINST IT.
PUBLIC MATTERS

NEW BUSINESS
CHAIRPERSON KINCHEN STATED THAT SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PARKS
AND RECREATION COMMITTEE LIMITED TO NINE MEMBERS AND ONE
ALTERNATE.
SHE SAID THAT HOWARD CARSWELL HAD REQUESTED A LEAVE OF ABSENCE.
MOTION BY IRENE TRAFICANTE, SECONDED BY LONNIE POWELL, TO LIMIT
MEMBERSHIP OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE TO NINE REGULAR
MEMBERS AND ONE ALTERNATE, WITH THE ALTERNATE BEING HOWARD
CARSWELL.
CHAIRPERSON KINCHEN STATED THAT THE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING WAS
SET FOR DECEMBER 5 AND THE PARADE FOR DECEMBER 13.
DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE ON NUMBER OF MEMBERS.
MOTION AND SECOND WERE AMENDED BY IRENE TRAFICANTE AND LONNIE
POWELL, TO LIMIT MEMBERSHIP OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
TO TEN REGULAR MEMBERS AND ONE ALTERNATE.
DISCUSSION FOLLOWED AS TO WHETHER THERE IS SUCH A THING AS A
LEAVE OF ABSENCE.
