Recreation Advisory Committee
November 16, 1998 7:00 PM Minutes
Chairman Richter called the meeting to Order.
Roll Call: the following members were present:
Maura Raborn - Sebastian Panthers, inc.
Virginia Nichols - Friendly Tennis Group
Marjorie Schaub - Sebastian River Art Club, absent, excused
Nancy Diamond - Indian River County Parks and Recreation Liaison
Carol McConnell - Citizen-at-Large, absent, excused
Larry Vickers, Alternate sitting in for Mr. Snyder
Robert Bates - Craft Club of Sebastian,
Clifford Moss, Sebastian Old Boys, absent
Cory Richter - Sebastian Soccer Association, Inc,
Randy Snyder - Sebastian River Area Little League, Inc., absent
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary and Chris McCarthy, Parks and
Recreation Foreman.
Approval of Minutes September 21, 1998 - Motion to approve as written by Ms Diamond second Mrs.
Raborn passed unanimously.
Old Business: None
Mr. Richter brought the committee up to speed on where the skateboard facility stands, stating that Mr.
Frame wants to form a committee with staff, citizens and some skateboarders to see what would be best.
Mr. Vickers asked where the park stands in relation to location. Chris McCarthy stated that the City
Manager is now looking at behind the police department since the residents around Barber Street stated
they didn't want it in their back yard.

Input from the Public - None
Members Comments - Mr. Vickers wanted to know if the City Manager will be advertising for members
for the skateboard committee. Chris McCarthy stated he wasn't sure how it would be handled.
Chaim~an Richter asks Chris where we stand on the Barber Street Grant. Chris stated that we are waiting
for approval from st. John's since the previous permit expired. Once that is given, we will have two years
to complete the project after FRDAP gives final approval.

A motion to adjourn at 7:15 PM was made by Ms. Diamond second Mrs. Raborn passed unanimously
