Cardinale VC Cathy Fulton EXCUSED ABSENCE: Ruth Davies ALSO PRESENT: Chris McCarthy, Parks & Recreation Dept. Ann Brack, Recording Secretary OLD BUSINESS: A. DISCUSS PLANS FOR ARBOR DAY: Beverly reported that all plans are finalized. The Program was analyzed and some corrections were made. It was noted by Chmn. Cardinale that Ray Coniglio is no longer President of the Chamber of Commerce, but he will be speaking for Keep Indian River Beautiful instead of Joel Tyson. This change will be made. The Appreciation Certificates were approved. The article in the Press Journal was reviewed. The Chairman noted that an item may appear in the Florida Today newspaper. The Arbor Day flag is ready to be flown. Lynn suggested that posters be developed to advertise this event for next year. She offered two methods of dividing the $150.00 donation for Poster Contest winners, and the following motion was made: MOTION by Albury/Dann I move that we spend the $155.00 for the Vero Beach Book Store gift certificates and the $5.00 McDonald's gift certificates for the Kindergarten class. Roll call: Chmn. Cardinale - yes Lynn Albury - yes Beverly T-Bell(a) - yes The vote was 5 — 0. Motion carried. Anne Dann - yes VC Cathy Fulton - yes TREE ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 16, 2001 The Chairman noted that after the Arbor Day Ceremony, thank you letters will be sent as well as a letter to the editor. This will be discussed at the next meeting in February. After some discussion, it was determined to add an item in the program about awards being given to the poster contest winners as item #5. Since there was no rain date planned, if it rains, this ceremony will move to Council Chambers. CHAIRMAN MATTERS: The Chairman will pick up all handouts at the Building Department on Friday, January 19th. STAFF MATTERS: Chris McCarthy noted that he and Mr. Moore met with Lisa Geiger from Sebastian River High School, who works with George Anderson, and Lisa is involved with an Enviro-thon competition where they propose a project, through the Florida Certified Yards program. Mr. Moore gave Lisa and the High School permission to use a piece of City Hall property to work with if they win the contest in March. He gave an explanation of how this program works. He also noted that the Tree City USA recertification has been applied for. The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 6:49 pm. (1/18/09 AB) /°"� Chmn.
