Finalize Arbor Day Plans Chmn. Fulton turned the meeting over to VC Cardinale, Chmn. of the Arbor Day Committee. Charles noted that Lynn Albury has received an affirmative response from Dr. Thomas at Sebastian United Methodist Church for the invocation on Arbor Day, and a letter has been sent to him. He then indicated that the refreshments have been confirmed by Pelican Island Garden Club; Ed Murphy, American Legion, has confirmed his role in the presentation of colors; Mary Young of the VFW will be contacted again for a firm response; Mr. Williams, Mr. Moore, and Dan Culbert have responded affirmatively, and a letter will immediately be sent inviting Mayor Barnes. He noted that Dan Culbert will speak on Champion Trees. Chmn. Fulton suggested including the subjects to be covered by each speaker on the program to be handed out. Charles mentioned confirmation letters, which was discussed, and it was determined that confirmations will be done by phone. Directions will be sent to the speakers, as well as being included in the general invitation letters which will be mailed on approximately April 5th, and directions will be mailed to the speakers on approximately April 12tH The press release was reviewed by several members. Chris McCarthy reported that he can obtain slash pines in the 8 to 16 foot size only. Larger ones are not available. He suggested also using a couple of oak trees. It was /4"'N clarified that the new trees will be planted on the Southwest corner of Blossom Park. Board members asked for two (2) slash pines and two (2) live oaks. Height of the trees /0`'1 TREE AND LANDSCAPE ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF MARCH 19, 2002 was discussed and Chris will obtain the tallest trees that the budget allows. He will report back at the regular April meeting. Chmn. Fulton informed the members that through Macho Products, she has ordered some items to be given out at this event, in the amount of about $90.00. There was a brief discussion on changes to the program and all issues were finalized. The invitation lists from previous years were discussed and updated. It was suggested to invite the members of the newly formed Sebastian Parks and Recreation Committee, the Sebastian Junior Women's Club and the Sebastian Women's Club, and post a notice on the bulletin board in City Hall. Charles presented a draft copy of a press release, and members offered comments. It was suggested that notices be placed in the Press Journal, Florida Today, on the City website, on Cable Channel 25, and any other source available. There was discussion on the issue of donating a couple of trees from the shadehouse to Pelican Island or Sebastian elementary schools. It was suggested that this issue be raised at the next regular meeting and include a motion. Charles requested sixty (60) copies of the brochure covering the Tree Protection Ordinance to be handed out at the ceremony. Chris McCarthy suggested providing two generators for coffee makers. He also noted that he will need to return the speaker system to the golf course as quickly as possible on April 20th. It was also determined that four (4) tables will be needed, along with sixty (60) chairs. Chris will also provide the Arbor Day flag, and he and some other Board members will meet Chris at Blossom Park the week before the ceremony to finalize location of items and any other issues. Chairman Fulton adjourned the meeting at 6:45 PM. 2 (3/25/02 AB)
