U.S.A. SHE SAID JOEL SUGGESTED FOR THE ARBOR DAY CEREMONY TO FIND
A ROAD WAY TO START OUT PLANTING ONE TREE, AND THEN THE FOLLOWING
YEAR PLANT ANOTHER TREE AND CONTINUE ON DOWN THE ROAD WAY SO THAT
IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO COMPARE THE GROWTH OF THE TREES IN
SUBSEQUENT YEARS. MARGARET MIQUELON SUGGESTED THE AREA NEAR THE
LAKE ON BARBER STREET. THOMAS CECRLE SUGGESTED THE BARBER STREET
SPORTS COMPLEX OVER THE AREA NEAR THE LAKE BECAUSE THERE IS MORE

SHIRLEY SUGGESTED TO KEEP THE MATTER OPEN.
SHIRLEY ALSO MENTIONED JOEL WOULD NEED TO BE PROVIDED WITH AN
AGENDA FOR THE ARBOR DAY CEREMONY, AND THAT THEY COULD USE THE
EXAMPLE iN THE TREE CITY U.S.A. PUBLICATION AS A GUIDE. JOEL ALSO

STATED THAT WEWOULDALSO NEED A PROCLAMATION, HE PROVIDED HER WITH
THE ONE FROM 1994. SHIRLEY SAID ONE OTHER THING THAT WOULD BE
NEEDED FOR THE TREE CITY U.S.A. IS A COMPREHENSIVE TREE MANAGEMENT
PROGRAM. SHE SAID SHE THOUGHT THAT THE INVENTORY, THE BOARD IS
DOING, COULD BE PART OF THAT AS WELL AS THE PROCEDURES FOR CITY
EMPLOYEES, THAT DONNA IS WORKING ON, AND THE IDEA OF A TREE BANK,
IF WE GET THE SEEDLINGS FROM THE NATIONAL TREE TRUST COMMUNITY
PROGRAM. SHE STATED WE COULD INCORPORATE ALL OF THESE INTO OUR
TREE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND JOEL WAS IN AGREEMENT WITH HER. HE WAS
VERY PLEASED WITH THE BOARD WORKING ON THE PROCEDURES FOR THE CITY
EMPLOYEES, HE SAID HE APPLAUDED DONNA FOR DOING THAT. HE ALSO

AVAILABLE TO FiLM SATURDAY NOVEMBER 18, 1995, DAVID AGREED TO DO
THAT.
THOMAS SPOKE BRIEFLY ON THE ARBOR DAY CEREMONY AND EXPRESSED HIS
DIFFICULTY IN GETTING TREES DONATED. IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO HIM TO
HAVE BUSINESSES DONATE TREES. FOR EXAMPLE HAVE THE BUSINESSES BUY
THE TREES TO BE DONATED RATHER THAN GOING STRAIGHT TOTHE NURSERY.
DAVID SUGGESTED PUTTING A SMALL AD IN THE PAPER LETTINGTHE PUBLIC
KNOW OFTHE CER~MONYAND IN ADDiTION ASKING BUSINESSES IF THEY WISH
TO DONATE A TREE TO CALL AND SIGN UP AS WELL AS SENDING A MAIL OUT
TO LOCAL BUSINESSES.
SHIRLEY SPOKE BRIEFLY ON THE APPLICATION FOR THE NATIONAL TREE
TRUST. SHE CALLED SCOTT NIE AND HE SAID THEY WILL STILL BE
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS UP UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 1995 AND IF WE SHOULD
