The purpose of these inspections was to review the current status of the mitigation work required by the permit, and to prepare a baseline monitoring report for future reference by the District. The wetland mitigation areas have been successfully planted with appropriate wetland trees. All required trees were accounted for, and most appear to be doing very well. At the time of the second inspection, one cypress tree mortality was noted in the southeast region of the obligate planting area. Natural recruitment of mostly desirable wetland vegetation has also occurred in both areas, and overall the project appears to be progressing favorably. Although successful establishment of the project cannot be determined until at least 80% of all planted individuals in each stratum have survived throughout the monitoring period, it is expected that success criteria will be met within the timeframe required. As called for by condition #10 of the permit, the District is still in need of the final as built certification for completion of the permitted system. if you have questions or continents regarding this letter, feel free to contact Michelle Reiber at (321) 676-6615 or Elois Lindsey at (321) 676-6622.
