The Temporary Jumper Detail (W-12) is to be used for filling any new water main,of'any size from the existing active water mains and for the flushing of new mains up to 6" diameter (2.5 FPS minimum velocity) and for pulling bacteriological samples from any new water main of any size. 3. The jumper connection shall be maintained until after the filling, flushing, testing and disinfection of the new main has been successfully completed and clearance for use from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and other pertinent agencies has been received. Adequate thrust blocking andlor restraints shall be provided temporarily, as required. 4. Pipe and fittings used for connecting the new pipe to the existing pipe shall be disinfected prior to installation in accordance with AWWA C651, LATEST EDITION. The tapping sleeve and exterior of the main to be tapped shall be disinfected by spraying or swabbing per section Two of AWWA C651. The use of tablets is strictly prohibited. 5. The Jumper connection shall also be used to maintain a minimum pressure of 20 PSI in the new mains continuously after disinfection and until FDEP clearance letter is obtained. 6. The Contractor shall provide documentation demonstrating that the double check backflow prevention device is in good working order at the time of installation, and provide documentation that the double check backflow prevention device has been tested in the last 12 months, and is in good working order one year from installation by a qualified backflow technician as approved by IRCDUS. 7. Except as required to flush lines greater than 6" diameter, the tie-in valve shall remain dosed and shall be locked in the closed position by the utility company. The tie-in valve shall remain locked closed until the new system has been cleared for use by the FDEP and all other pertinent agencies. 8. Upon receipt of clearance for use by FDEP and all other pertinent agencies, the Contractor shall remove the temporary jumper connection. The corporation stops are to be closed and plugged with 2" brass or PVC stops. 9. All installation and maintenance of the temporary jumper connection and associated backflow prevention device, fittings, valves, etc., shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. 10. If the water main to be flushed is greater than 6" diameter or such length that a full pipe flush at the 2.5 FPS velocity cannot be accomplished, the following procedure shall be utilized. a) Install pressure gauges as indicated on Temporary Jumper Detail (W-11). b) Open all downstream valves in the new system prior to flush. c) Flush new water main thru tie-in valve maintaining a 10+1- PSI pressure differential between gauges during flush. d) IRCDUS personnel, in the presence of the Engineer of Record shall operate tie- in valve to insure that the required pressure differential is maintained. Pumps shall be capable of handlindomestic s�wage with minimal maintenance. The motor shall be' - HP, (9) RPM, 11 VOLT/ 11 PHASE/ 60 HERTZ. The motor shall be an integral part of the pumping unit. Pump discharge size shall be 7 inch. Pump, control system, and FRP (fiberglass reinforced polyester) wetwell shall be "CBG/LIFT PAC" TM provided and manufactured by Gerber Pumps, Inc., Winter Park, Florida.(407) 671-3599 © 1988 Contract award shall be on the basis of the base bid CBG/Lift PACTM system. Alternative deductive systems shall be considered only after contract award. Alternative deductive system must be specified at bid time. The contractor shall reimburse the engineer for additional expenses to review alternative system. Any savings shall be shared with the owner. Due to the superior corrosion resistance and leak proof design of fiberglass, a concrete wetwell will NOT be permitted. The entire lift station system shall be supplied by the pump supplier and certification of supply will be required. Part 2 - Products 2.01 PUMP - Pump shall be of the centrifugal non -clog type C7� Model n or equal with an integrally built submersible type motor. The pump shall be mounted in the FRP basin in such a way that solids are fed in an up -flow direction to the impeller, Motor - shall have two heavy duty ball bearings to support the pump shaft and take radial and thrust loads. Ball bearings shall be designed for 50,000 hours B-10 life. Stator shall be heat shrunk into the motor housing. On single phase motors a line break overload shall be attached to the windings to stop the motor if the temperature of the winding is more than 130 C. 0 This overload will automatically reset when the motor cools to safe operating temperature. On three phase motors overcurrent protection should be provided in the control panel. The common pump -motor shaft shall be of AISI 416 stainless steel. Seal - Motor shall be protected by mechanical seal. Seal faces shall be lubricated by the oil -filled motor housing above the seal. Faces shall be carbon and ceramic and lapped to a flatness of one light band. Seal faces of tungsten carbide are optional. Impeller - Shall be cast iron and of the 2 vane non -clog enclosed type capable of passing (_ " dia. size solids. Vane inlet tips shall be carefully rounded to prevent stringy material from catching in the vanes. Pump -out vanes shall be used on front and back shrouds and impeller shall be dynamically balanced by grinding on shroud faces. Impeller shall be driven by stainless steel shaft key and held in place with lock screw and washer. Impeller and motor shall lift off case as a unit without disturbing discharge piping. Pump Case -The volute case shall be cast iron and have a flanged center line discharge. Discharge flange shall be �_ inch standard with bolt holes straddling center line. Pump and Motor Castinq - All castings shall be of high tensile cast iron and shall be treated with phosphate and chromate rinse. All fasteners shall be 304 stainless steel. Power Cables - Power cable shall be double sealed. Cable entry into cord cap shall be sealed by a cord grip fitting. Individual wire entry into top of motor housing shall be sealed by a rubber compression sealing grommet. Insulation of power cable shall be type SOW/SOW-A. 2.02 DUPLEX PUMP CONTROL PANEL - Each non -clog pump control panel shall control two 10 HP, TiD /_ ([D / 60 Hz. non -clog pumps. The four float control system shall operate on 24 volt service. The enclosure shall be NEMA 3R, minimum 24" High, 20" wide, 8" deep, fabricated from AISI 304 stainless steel with provision for padlocking. The backpanel and hinged deadfront shall be constructed of corrosion resistant T6065 alloy aluminum. All bolts, nuts, washers, lock washers, and machine screws shall be stainless steel. The enclosure shall have external mounting feet to allow for wall mounting. The deadfront shall be held closed by an easily opened locking device. All components mounted to or protruding through the deadfront shall be identified by lettering engraved in 2 ply phenolic engraving stock. Hinges for the wet well and valve box shall be AISI 304SS minimum. An aluminum slide/latch assembly shall be provided for holding the doors open on both the wet well and the valve box. Slide rails shall be SCH 40 AISI 304SS pipe. Pump lifting devices shall be made of AISI 304SS (min.) cable (1/4"min) or 304SS chain of sufficient size, with safety factor to handle safely the specific pumps. AISI 304SS (min.) pump lifting bails shall be provided. 2.04 FRP PRODUCTS -The pump wetwell shall be manufactured of fiber glass reinforced polyester (FRP) of diameter and depth as shown on the lift station elevation detail. The basin/wetwell wall thickness shall be adequate for the depth of the tank to maintain structural integrity in the following condition: 1. Soil modulus of 700 psi. 2. Soil density of 120 lbs/ft 3. Luschers safety factor of 2.0. Material for the FRP shall be as follows: Resin: The resins used shall be a commercial grade unsaturated polyester resin. Reinforcing Materials: The reinforcing material shall be commercial grade "E" type glass in the form of mat, chopped or roving fabric, having a coupling agent that will provide a suitable band between the glass reinforcement and the resin. Fillers and Additives: Fillers of any type shall not be utilized. Additives, such as thixotropic agents, catalysts, promoters, etc., may be added as required by the specific manufacturing process to be used to meet the requirements of this specification. Part 3 - Execution. 3.01 INSTALLATION - shall be in strict accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations in the locations shown on the drawing. 3.02 INSPECTION AND TESTING -A factory representative shall be provided for one (1) day and shall have complete knowledge of proper operation and maintenance to inspect the final installation and supervise the test run of the equipment.
