The Temporary Jumper detail (W-12A) is to be used for fitting any new water main of any size from the existing active water mains and for the flushing of new mains up to 6' diameter (2.5 FPS mininum velocity) and for putting bacteriot ogicai samples from from any new water main of any size. 3. The Jumper connection shad be maintained until after the Fitting, flushing, testing and disinfection of the new naln has beery successFutly completed and clearance for use from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and other pertinent agencies has been received. Adequate thrust blocking and/or restraints shall be provided temporarily, as required, 4. Pipe and fittings used for connecting the new pipe to the existing pipe shall be disinfected prior to Installation in accordance w!th AWWA C651, 1992 EDITION. The tapping sleeve and the exterior of the main to be tapped shall be disinfected by spraying or swabbing per Section Two of AWWA C651-92. 5. The Jumper connection shall also be used to maintain a minimum pressure of 20 PSI in the new males continuously after disinfection and until F.D.E.P clearance letter is obtained. 6: The Contractor shall provide documentation demonstrating that the double check backflow prevention device Is In good working order at the time of installation and provide documentation that the double check backfiow prevention device has been tested and Is in good working order one year from lnstattation by a qualified back Flow technician as approved by Indian River County's Utility Engineer, 7 Except as required to flush tines greater than 6' diameter, the tie-ln valve shat! remain closed and shall be, Locked In the closed position by the utility company, The tie -In valve shalt remain locked closed until the new system has been cleared for use by FDEP and all other pertinent agencies. 8. Upon receipt of clearance For use from FDEP and all other pertinent agencies, the Contractor shall remove the temporary Jumper connection. The corporation stops are to be closed aruv plugged with 2' brass stops. 9. Alt lnstatlotlon and maintenance of the temporary Jumper connection and associated bockflow prevention device, fittings vatves, etc., shalt be the responsibility of the Contractor. 10. If the water main to be ftushed is larger than 6' diameter or such length that a full pipe flush at the 2.5 FPS velocity cannot be accomplished, the Following procedure shall be utilized a) Instal( pressure gauges as indicated on detail (W-12A). b) Open alt downstream valves in the new system prior to f(ush. c) Flush raw water main thru tie-in valve maintaining a 10+ PSI pressure differential between gouges during flush. d) Tie-in valve shalt be operated by county personnel., In the presence of the engineer oif record to insure that the required pressure differential is maintained T r MPElRARY N" JUMPER DETAIL W - 12,1 NOTES < F, REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY, f MICHAEL Cr HOTCHKISS, FEA.
