Approximately 10 people from the community attended the workshop. i i The project is 90% design complete. Staff now seeks authority from Council to begin the next phase of the project — construction bidding, followed by road construction. Should Council provide authority to move forward, below is a timetable for project execution, ITEM I ESTIMATED DATE Let Bids Bid Deadline Contract Award (City Council) Notice to Proceed End Construction 10 January 11 16 February 11 23 March 11 — City Council Meeting 15 April 11 Mid August 11 As discussed by Council and staff in the past, several reasons exist to construct Powerline Road. These reasons include: ✓ Powerline Road will provide better ingress/egress for the northeastern portion of the Highlands by reducing traffic load on streets like Easy, Fleming, Main, Barber, Sebastian Boulevard and US 1. This concept is one that provides alternative routs and is supported by the MPO and the traffic element in the Sebastian Comprehensive Plan. " ✓ The City required construction of Powerline Road in order to enhance ingress/egress during approval of the Ashbury Subdivision. ✓ Powerline Road construction was scheduled in the FY 2010 Capital Improvement Budget in an amount of approximately $1,100,000. if off.
