CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. ALL PVC PIPE FOR GRAVITY SEWER MAINS SHALL BE SDR-35 MEETING ASTM
C-76 AND SHALL BE GREEN OR APPROVED EQUAL.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE LOCATIONS OF ANY UNDERGROUND
UTILITIES PRIOR TO EXCAVATION.
3. ALL GENERAL CONSTRUCTION, MATERIAL TESTING AND METHODS OF
INSTALLATION SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE UTILITIES
DEPARTMENT OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY.
4. INSPECTION OR FAILURE TO INSPECT ANY MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP BY THE
COUNTY OR OTHER AGENCIES SHALL IN NO WAY RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF HIS
RESPONSIBILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS AND LAWS.
5. ALL DIMENSIONS MUST BE VERIFIED IN THE FIELD BY THE CONTRACTOR AND
IF ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE DISCOVERED, THE OWNER SHALL BE NOTIFIED
IMMEDIATELY.
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL WORK WITH U71UTY COMPANIES 48 HRS PRIOR TO
START OF CONSTRUCTION N ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO EXISTING U11UTIES
AND THE ADJUSTMENT AND/OR RELOCATION OF SAME IF REQUIRED.
7. CONTRACTOR IS ADVISED TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE OVERALL SCOPE
OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO SUBMITTING A BID.
8. ADJUSTMENT OF MANHOLE TOPS SHALL BE INCLUDED 1N THE CONTRACTOR'S
UNIT PRICE AND NO CLAIM SHALL BE MADE AGAINST THE ENGINEER AND/OR OWNER
FOR THESE ADJUSTMENTS, IF REQUIRED.
9. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS
OF THE U11UTY AGENCY OF RECORD. SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE
SUBMITTED TO THE OWNER FOR ALL SEWER AND WATER APPURTENANCES PRIOR TO
FABRICATION.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER , ENGINEER AND UTILITIES DEPARTMENT
A MINIMUM OF (48) HOURS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION.
11. TV/INFILTRATION TESTS FOR GRAVITY SEWER MANS SHALL BE COMPLETED AT
THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE AND COORDINATED WITH THE OWNER AND UTTILITY
OF RECORD. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE ENGINEER WITH ALL TEST RESULTS.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY THE OWNER AND ENGINEER WITH TWO COPIES
OF AS -BUILT INFORMATION SHOWING THE CONSTRUCTED LOCATION OF ALL
MAINS, MANHOLES AND OTHER APPURTENANCES. THE FORMAT SHALL BE APPROVED BY
THE OWNER PRIOR TO SUBMISSION.
13. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE OWNER OF
ANY CHANGES OR DEVIATIONS FROM THE ORIGINAL PLANS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION
OF SAID CHANGE OR DEVIATION.
14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO SAFEGUARD ALL
EXISTING STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES. ANY DAMAGES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE
CONTRACTOR AT HIS OWN EXPENSE.
15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A COPY OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY UTILITIES
DEPARTMENTS CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION AND
SEWAGE COLLECTION FACILITIES PRIOR TO BIDDING THE UTILITY WORK. IN THE
EVENT THAT THERE IS A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE COUNTYS SPECIFICATIONS AND
THE ENGINEER'S SPECIFICATIONS, THE COUNTYS SPECIFCATIONS SHALL
SUPERSEDE.
16. THE OWNER WILL PROVIDE THE CONTRACTOR WITH A BASELINE AND A
BENCHMARK FOR THE CONTRACTOR'S USE IN CONSTRUCTING THE SANITARY SEWER.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM, AT HIS OWN EXPENSE, ANY ADDITIONAL SURVEY
WORK SUCH AS GRADE STAKES, OFF -SET STAKES AND CUT SHEETS.
18. THE OWNER WILL PROVIDE THE SELECTED CONTRACTOR WITH COPIES OF ALL
PERMITS RECEIVED FOR THE PROJECT, WHICH SHALL BE LIMITED TO INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY UTILITIES PERMIT AND FDER PERMIT.
19. THE BACKFILL OVER ANY SANITARY SEWER THAT 1S TO BE INSTALLED IS TO
BE COMPACTED IN 12" LIFTS MAXIMUM TO MINIMUM OF 95% MAXIMUM DENSITY
WITH A MECHANICAL TAMPER OR OTHER MEANS ACCEPTABLE TO THE OWNER AND/OR
ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE OWNER WITH COMPACTION TEST
RESULTS AT 400'INTERVALS AT HIS EXPENSE BASED ON AASHTO T-180
SPECIFICATIONS.
20. GRAVITY SEWER AND MANHOLES SHALL BE CLEANED OF ALL DEBRIS, GRIT AND
OTHER MATERIALS FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF THE SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE
TESTED BY THE CONTRACTOR, AT HIS EXPENSE, IN THE PRESENCE OF THE
ENGINEER, FOR INFILTRATION. INFILTRATION SHALL NOT EXCEED 50
GALLONS/DAY/INCH DIAMETER. TELEVISION TESTING FOR ALL GRAVITY SEWERS
SHALL ALSO BE REQUIRED.
