B. Art
There were no participants from the Art Club in attendance. Marc said he would
reach out to the president of the Art Club to organize a student art contest. The
art work has to be finished and turned in by the end of the school year 2023.
It was a suggested to contact Indian River Rocks to have centennial rocks painted
and placed around the city in 2024.
C. Historical
Brian received a letter from the Sebastian Area Historical Society saying they
would be delighted to assist the City with the Centennial Celebration. Their next
meeting is in September and would be happy to discuss how they may help.
Scarlett Chesser stopped by City Hall and spoke with Cathy after being at the
Sebastian Area Historical Society and heard about the Centennial Celebration.
She is very excited about the celebration and has a lot of old pictures to share.
She would like to be kept up to date with the planning.
D. Parades & Special Events
Jeanette received an email from Express Clydesdales Ranches stating they will be
in contact at the end of December 2023 to say for sure if they will be able to
attend the 41h of July event in 2024.
Brian is going to work with the band director for the Marching Sharks to attend
the July 4th parade as well as the centennial parade in December. They have a
conflict in December because of the school's PRISM musical.
E. Sponsorships
Brian advised that there are about 170 street poles to hang centennial flags. There
are 44 on the presidential streets, 41 on US 1 and 85 on the other city major
streets.
Brian would like to have a kids area set up on celebration day with a bounce
house, dunk tank and face painting.
Patti submitted a picture of a flag for the poles. She suggested putting sponsor
names on the flags. She also suggested interviewing local businesses to talk about
why they chose to open their business in Sebastian.
