COLORING BOOK PHRASES
Pelican Island Stamp
March 14, 1903, by executive order of President Theodore Roosevelt, Pelican Island Wildlife
Refuge was the first official wildlife refuge in the United States. In recognition of the 100th year
anniversary, the U.S. Postal Service issued a commemorative stamp to celebrate the centennial
anniversary marking the beginning of the National Wildlife Refuge system.
The Sebastian Train Station
On December 11, 1893, a crowd turned out at the Sebastian Station to greet the train as it
chugged into town for the first time.
Fisherman's Landing
Fisherman's Landing's purpose is for the commercial harvest of marine life by commercial
fisherman, it also promotes and educates the public about the economic, cultural, and historical
heritage of Florida's traditional working waterfronts.
Old School House
In 1927 a new school was built on Main Street. In 1983 the building was turned over to the City and
would become City Hall until 2004 when a new City Hall was built next door. It is now a historical
museum, Indian River State College classrooms and environmental agency offices.
Main Street Boat Ramp
A Gateway to our Indian River Lagoon for boaters and fisherman offering panoramic views of
our marine and wildlife to visitors walking and biking the area.
