A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, DISSOLVING THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN CENTENNIAL TASK
FORCE; PROVIDING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF ORGANIZING THE
CELEBRATION; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF RESOLUTION NO. R-
22-02; PROVIDING FOR SCRIVENER'S ERRORS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sebastian is a municipal corporation of the State of Florida with such
power and authority as has been conferred upon it by the Florida Constitution and Chapter 166, Florida
Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sebastian was incorporated as a City on December 8, 1924 and will
celebrate its 100`h anniversary ("Centennial") in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City Council created a Centennial Task Force to help develop, support and
implement the City's plan to commemorate the City's Centennial; and
WHEREAS, the Task Force has invited the public to participate in ideas and fundraising efforts
to support a year -long celebration of events to showcase Sebastian's rich historic past; and
WHEREAS, many of efforts are being currently being developed and will debut in 2024 such as
souvenir promotional items, a souvenir magazine depicting the City's history, a coloring and essay
contest; and
WHEREAS, a website and Facebook page have been developed to announce the upcoming
events and share the City's history; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sebastian Centennial Task Force requests to be dissolved in order to
devote its efforts towards the events slated to begin in January 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. DISSOLUTION OF TASK FORCE. The "City of Sebastian Centennial Task
Force" is hereby dissolved and the City Manager, City Clerk, and City Records Specialist may now meet
to organize upcoming events and projects.
SECTION 2. CITY STAFF CONTINUED RESPONSIBILITIES. The City's Staff will
continue to collect donations and expend those funds in accordance with the City's purchasing policies.
A line item budget will be on file with the Finance Department for public inspection.
SECTION 3. CONFLICT. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or
re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by the

City Manager, or the City Manager's designee without the need of public hearing, by filing a corrected or
re -codified copy of same with the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall take effect upon its adoption.
The foregoing Resolution was passed for adoption by Council Member Dodd , was seconded
by Council Member Jones , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared this Resolution duly passed and adopted this 25t day of October
2023.

Agenda Item Title: Dissolution of the Centennial Task Force
Recommendation: Adoption of Resolution No. R-23-31
Background: The City of Sebastian's Centennial Task Force was formed to plan
activities in anticipation of the City's 100s anniversary. Since formation, the Task Force has made
great headway in planning a celebration to remember for the City's 100a' birthday. The Task Force
is excited to debut their sponsors and volunteers efforts next January. Until that time, and until more
capital is raised, the Task Force's planning mission has been accomplished. The remaining activities
include volunteer duties at the year -long events where the members will work to ensure a quality
celebration to remember for the residents of Sebastian and its rich history over the past 100 years.
