Mayor Harris called the meeting to order at 3:23 P.M. and dispensed with formalities. Present: Vice Mayor Kenneth Roth Councilman Robert McCarthy Councilman Peter Vallone (arrived 3:30 P.M.) Councilman George Metcalf Mayor L. Gene Harris 3. NEW BUSINESS Vice Mayor Roth requested that Jeffrey B. Stone, who was not one of the top ten selected by the Florida League of Cities screening committee, be considered in this discussion. Council concurred. Mayor Harris said he would like to schedule the Nappi hearing for January 20, 1988. Councilman McCarthy questioned whether the Attorney for Nappi could request an extension. Ms. Tarbell said Attorney Peterson concurred with the date and that an extension could be legally denied by the Council. Council concurred with the date. Councilman Vallone left the meeting at 3:35 P.M. to get neccessay paperwork and returned at 3:47 P.M. 1 It was decided to select five of the top ten for con- sideration for interviews. Vice Mayor Roth reiterated that he would like Jeffrey B. Stone considered for interview. Ail councilmembers agreed not to consider Eugene Brocken- brough. The merits of the following applicants were discussed individually; Richard Clark, John Baker, Gene DeMarie, David Heacock, Robert McClary, John Paulus, Russell Smith, James Turner, Paul West and Jeffrey Stone. At the conclusion of the discussion the following five were chosen for further discussion and selection of top three for interview at the Saturday, January 9, 1988 workshop; Richard Clark, Gene DeMarie, Robert McClary, James Turner and Jeffrey Stone. Vice Mayor Roth recommended that the five applicants be reviewed page by page by Council. 4. Mayor Harris adjourned the meeting at 4:30 P.M.
