Consultant Plans To Listen
To Community On Airport Issue
By PAT1t1C1A DILALLA
sebastian Bureau Chief
Residents will have a chance to
express their opinions about the
Sebastian Municipal Airport
during two days of interviews in
January set aside with the pro-
posed airport consultant.
Information gathered from the
interviews will form the basis of a
scope of work for the Municipal
Airport Plan and Community
Compatibility Study, said City
Manager Robb McClary.
McClary said the scope of work,
which has to be approved by the
City Council, is needed for:
s Submission to the Federal Avi-
ation Administration as part of a
grant application for the airport/
community study.
0 Contract negotiations to con-
tinue between the city and Wil-
liams, Hatfield & Stoner Inc. of
Fort Lauderdale, the firm selected
to do the study.
"We will be there to listen," said
Mel Pollack, business development
director for Williams, Hatfield.
"We want to find out what the
community is thinking so we can
address their concerns and include
their concerns in the overall pro-
ject."

The airport/community study is
required under the terms of a
standstill agreement between the
city and the FAA.
The June 12 agreement, forged in
air effort to resolve the escalating
conflict over the future of the air-
port, requires "significant opportu-
nity for input" from citizens of
Sebastian and Roseland as well as
the city and the FAA.
Anyone interested in meeting
with the consultants should call
the city manager's office for an ap-
pointment. Interviews will start at
4 p.m. Jan. 11.
Ten minutes will be set aside for
individuals and 30 minutes for rep-
resentatives of organizations. The
consultants have asked that people
bring a written summary of their
positions to the meeting.
"We are flexible enough to
expand the time limits," McClary
said. " We will try to accommodate
everyone and hear everything ev-
eryone has to say."
McClary slid he anticipates the
earliest the scope of study could be
presented to council would be Jan.
24 and the latest Feb.14.
