HomeMy WebLinkAbout01231961Regular Meeting January 23, 1961 Meeting was called to order by President Pro-tem ~innegan. Those present were Mayor Rohme,and Councilmen Finnegan, Nash, Baxter, and De0ristofaro. Councilman Sembler absent, Minutes of January 9, 1961 were approved as read. Councilman DeCristofaro presented a sketch of streets in the Twin- Lakes Division of Sebastian Highlands, showing location of four proposed Street Lights to be erected in this section. Councilman DeCristofaro also recommended that two of these lights be furnished by the City and two of these lights to be furnished by General Development Corporation, at a rate of $24.50 per year, per light. Attention of the ~uncil was called to a former request for Two lighte at the entrance of Sebastian Highlands located at Easy Street and ~imbrow Drive. Councilman DeCristofaro recommended that two lights be placed at this location on a split cost basis with General Development Corporation and the City of Sebastian. Councilman Baxter made a motion to accept Councilman DeCristofaro recommendation of four lights to be installed in Twin Lakes Division and two lights bo be installed at Sebastian Highlands at the abeve mentioned locations. This motion was seconded by Councilman Nash. ~arried. Clerk read a letter ~rom R. F. Lloyd in reference to verifying a survey made at an earlier date by the Carter Engineering Pirm of Wauregan Sub-Division. Nr. Lloyd states that he has been unable to find any discrepancy in the Carter survey. ~lerk was instructed to send a copy of this letter to the City Attorney for his reviewal. The clerk read a request of September 8, 1958 whereby Paul R. Stevenson requested the City to abandon a drainage easement on the West side of Block 4 in Edgewater Park Sub-Division. Councilman Finnegan recommended that Paul R. Stevenson's attorney draw up an Ordinance for the abandoment of this easement. Also to furnish sketches of same. This to be sent to the City Attorney for his approval and recommendation to the Council. The Council withhedl the employment of a Secretary to the City Clerk until the next regular ~eeting of the Council due to the fact one member of the Finance Committee was absent. Mayor Rohme reported to the Council that he had contacted some of the parties involved in reference to obstructions on City Streets, and also requested that drive-ways be constructed to conform with City Specifications. Clerk was instructed to inform citizens that are in violation of drive-way permits to be given a two-weeks notice to conform with the regulations. City Clerk ~as instructed to have the ~ityAttorney make an Ordinance requiring permits for drive-ways and stating rules and regulations governing same. This Ordinance to conform with the regulations set out by the City Attorney and the City Engineer. Mr. Channel asked the Council if there is a codified reference of City Ordinances in the City Hall. The Council stated there was no such method used at the present time. President Pro-rem Finnegan appointed Councilman Sembler and himself as a committee of two to investigate the costs involved in setting up a codified reference of the ordinances of the City. Citizens attending this meeting requested that an active Zoning· Committee be installed by the council. Councilman Nash recommended that the City Clerk contact present Chairman of the Zoning Committee and request that he advise the Council on or before the regular meeting of the Council on February l~, 1961 as to his committee's intentions or participation on the Zoning Com~ittee. City Clerk read a written request from Jack Vickers requesting that all trucks loading or unloading at business places on Main Street be required to do so a~ the rear entrance of these business places. City Clerk read a request from Travelers Insurance Company on the installation of pad locks on Switch boxe~ at the ball park at the school grounds. President Pro-tern ~innegan recommended that locks be placed on these switch boxes. Upon request from Police Department, 25 mile an hour signs will be placed on Main Street from U. S. $1 west.
