Dear Editor:
Bert Snell says he's thinking about pursuing another of his lawsuit's against
the City of Sebastian over the airport. This particular suit is about legal fees
paid from the general airport fund to the city's airport attonery, Elliot Cutler.
Snell says Cutler was too expensive, and he's demanding the city repay the
airport fund out of genral tax revenues. Of course he says before pushing the
suit, he has to consult his mysterious backers, those unnamed business people
who don't want the public to know who they are.
First of all, Cutler is one of the recognized experts in the field. If you want
the best, you have to pay. Secondly, because of Cutler's work, and because of
two referendas proposed by Citizen's Airport Watch and approved by
Sebastian voters, we finally have FAA's attention. With this present study
largely financed by FAA, we actually have a real chance of solving the airport
problem and moving on to other issues. So if Cutler helped to do that, he was

well worth the hundred thousand dollars. And since the money didn't come
from general tax revenues, what is Snell's purpose in demanding Sebastian
residents spend tax dollars needlessly? Is he trying to blackmail the city in
order to get his way or is he simply a spoilsport?
Also Snell is the spokesman for a group trying to abolish Sebastian city
government, and to throw the city back into the county, where his group may
have more power over decisions for this area.
So whatkind of hero does this make Mr. Snell, when he and his friends want
to abolish our local government, and when they want us to waste tax dollars?
He's more like the Grinch trying to steal Christmas than a hero.
Sincerely,
Anne Putman,
Sebastian
