T~llis Minutes of the ~djourne~ meeting of December 7th. and the special meeting Dec.ll, 1944 were read un,approved as read Ohio Wesleyan University Wrote for information regarding the extreme difference in 1943 an~1944 t..~xes. The clerk was instructe~ to explain the attempt to ize taxes thro~.gh the services of an appraiser. Wade Thompson's letter w~as re~d asking for forgiveness of 1944 taxes the de- p~id linquent t.v~xes having 0ten^on property practically worthless ,and,in his oPinion, excessively' high. :Phe 6ouncll took:no action on the m~tter. Councilman ~mith,moved, seconded by Councilman ~h,~w,that the clerk be instructed to lookup the record of the s:~le of the property by,the city to Charles Hen~rick and report findings ~t the next meeting for final action by the Board, was carried unanimously. On roll c~ll the~motion Motion by Councilman ?haw Seconded 'by Councilm:~n Smith, that the clerk be in struct ed to write aletter to Mr.Baynard of St. Petersburg,thanking him for the basket of pears sent by him to the Council~ and asking him to name the earliest date that would be convenient for him to meet with the Council to discuss condition of the financial aff.-~irs of the city. Motion was carried. The~reported that a check for $2,612.50 was sent to The Guaranty Trust New York City,for payment of interest due bond holders. Company of Councilman Middleton and Smith,absent the previous meeting, were sworn into office to succeed themselves for the coming two years. ~heck for $39~.86, was sent to. Mr. W. M. Duncan for his services in compiling the 1944 tax roll. A letter from Mrs. W. T, Atchley was read in which she protested a~ainst being taxed: because of the bad condition of the street on which she lived -Lousiana .Ave. On a motion by Mr. Smith the meeting w:~s adjourned to meet in regular session February 6,1945.
