Problems Continue
I ee► ma believe whet. I heard
,hw -' :,.TSebastian',° Councilman
Robert WCarthy's mouth.Feb. 14.
Both airplane accidents were com-
pletely different. As for the terrain
being changed, maybe the new
fence around the garbage drop-off
point on, Gibson Street is the
change. E
The pilot had engine failure
Coining back from Georgia to Vero
$each: They had been 'taught
proper procedure, if they had not
been, they probably would be dead.
However; both accidentsare very
unfortunate. Still; flying is safer
than driving. .
Let's talk about motor vehicles.
We probably should have .a mora-
torium put on U.S. 1, State Road
512, Roseland Road, Interstate ,95,
the Sunshine State Turnpike etc.
and ban all motor vehicles, be-
cause.. people :are killed every
second on the highways. There are
more deaths due to automobile
accidents every second of the day
than airplanes.
Had the $140,000 paid to Mr.
Cutler for legal fees been used for a
control tower at Sebastian Munici-
pal Airport, one life would have
been spared and another person
would not be in the hospital fight-
ing for his life.
The Feb. 14 accident. maybe
could have, ,been diverted to an un-
populated area. The same rules.
apply. in flying as they do when
driving' a motor vehicle to avoid
accidents.
I 'have heard Mr. McCarthy
mention time and time again
about airport expansion, and jets
crashing. He should take a look at
the airport. Where can it be ex-
panded. to? It is as big as it can get.
We want the airport a safe air-
” port; .'with paved , roads in and out
.of the airport.' When the referen-
dum was passed, the one Mr.
McCarthy was in favor of, we lost a a
20,000 grant to pave Airport
Drive: How much more money can
he cost us?
Oh yes, everyone, pay attention.
Another horrendous bill will be
arriving from Mr. Cutler, as he
was contacted again.
