Meeting called to order by President gweatt.
Those present were ~dal~or Shaffer,President Sz..:_att a~d ..';ouncilmen :]embler,Ellingsen,
Taylor a_~.d Chesser.
The right-of-way for the new U.S.1 high~ay was discussed and the Chair called on each
Councilman for their respective views and after considerable time given to said discussion it
was put to a roll call vote on the split highway the results being as follows, after motion by
Councilman Taylor in favor of split highway which was seconded by Councilman Chesser and earri,

Mayor Shaffer reported on the Police Department but told i~he Council a more complete
report would be given at the next regular meeting.
The new typewriter was discussed and it was moved by Councilman Ellingsen which ~as
seconded by Councilman ~aylor to purchase the Smith Corona typewriter.carried.
Councilman Chesser told the Council the City needed more chairs for the City Hall
to accomodate more people.TLe Clerk was instructed to write for prices on folding chairs.
Councilman Chesser askea what holidays were observed by the City for the City
Employees,and after some discussion it was moved by Councilman Chesser which was seconded by
Councilman Sembler that 'the following holidays be observed,Christmas,New Years,Memorial Day,
Fourth -of-July[orIndependence Day) La0or Day and Thanksgiving Day. carried.

Councilman told ~he Council that she thought the City had better make some provisions
sSoppeople from excavateing or selling sand off of properties in the City.It was agreed that th.
City Attorney would ce consulted as ~o Ordinance governing same. ~'

Meeting called to order Oy Pzesident Sweatt.
Those present were ~ayor Shaffer,President Gewatt a~d Councilmen Ellingsen,Taylor
and C~esser.Councilman Sembler abseht.
Minutes of the regular me~:~ting of Frb.22nd. and Special Meeting of March 1st were
approved as read.
President ~weatt reported to Council on the meeting o~ the County Commissioners and
explained the reason why the State Road Department could not use the 80 feet for a four lane
highway and from all indications the State Road Department would use a split highway ~hru
Sebastian and would repair all storm sewers in order to protect the .~,ew road.
The Clerk was instructed to write letter to the County Commissioners reporting the
Council views on the split Highly as entered in the minutes.
after some discussion on a truck for the City,it was -~;'oved by Councilman Ellingsen
and seconded by Cou~cilman Chesser to authorize the ¥.ayor and Chief of Police to try and se-'~
cure prices on truck for the City.
Councilman Taylor moved that the City Ouy twelve steel chairs number 646 from the
Monroe Company of Colfax, Iowa at price of about $3.30 per chair,said chairs to shipped
via freight.Said motion was seconded Oy Councilman Chesser. C~rried.
Bills amounting to $440.68 approved by the fina~ce committee were authorized to Oe
paid on motion 'by Councilman .£11ingsen and seconded Oy Councilman Chesser.Carrieel.
l~ayor Shaffer was authorized by the Councilmto purchase paint for marking parking
apaces on the streets on motion Oy Councilman Chesser aad aeconded 'by Councilman Ellingsen.
The ¥~ayor was also authorized to purchase new tires for the Police car just as
as needed on mozion by Councilman Ellingsen and seconded 'by Councilman Chesser..C~rried.
The old typewriter was sold to Chief Adams for ,.,10.00 on motion by Councilman
Ellingsen and s corded by Councilman Chesser. carried.
