WERE VICE MAYOR GRAY, COUNCILMAN OBERBECK, COUNCILWOMAN MC KINLEY, COUNCILMAN GASS, MAYOR FLOOD,

MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCILMAN GASS AND SECONDED BY COUNCILWOMAN MC KINLEY TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF
THE PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 4, ~981, THE MEETING OF THE COMPREHENSIVE LAND
USE PLAN OF FEBRUARY 17, 1981, THETWO PUBLIC HEARINGOF FEBRUARY 18, 1981, THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF FEBRUARY 18, 1981, AND THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 24, 1981. CARRIED.
THE CITY CLERK READ THE MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION NAMING MARCH, 1981 AS SEBASTIAN LIONS EYE BANK MONTH.
COUNCILMAN OBERBECK REPORTED THAT THE BUILDING AT THE BARBER STREET BALLPARK SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN
TWO WEEKS. WORK IS BEING DONE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER AND COUNCILMAN OBERBECK INTENDS TO REVIEW
THE CONDITION OF THE RAMPS AT THE YACHT CLUB. HE HAS DISCUSSED THE CONDITION OF THE FOOTBALL FIELD
WITH GENERAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. THEY INTEND TO PUT UP A FENCE ALONG THE LARGE TRENCH ON THE
NORTH SIDE OF THE FIELD FOR THE CHILDREN'S PROTECTION. THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THE POLICEMEN!~'~ FOR
PROTECTION AGAINST DOGS WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1~)0.00 PER CAR.

EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE CARS WITH FUNDS FROM THE REVENUE SHARING MONEY. CARRIED.
MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCILWOMAN MC KINLEY AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN GASS TO APPROVE THE LAS 97EGAS
NIGHT AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER ON APRIL 4, 1981. IT WILL HELP TO OFFSET THE COST OF THE FOURTH OF
JULY ACTIVITIES. CARRIED.
COUNCILWOMAN MC KINLEY REPORTED ON THE PROBLEM OF GROWING GRASS AT THE CEMETERY FOR THE CEMETERY
ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE. A SOIL SAMPLE WILL COST ABOUT $20.00. COUNCILMAN GASS HAS NOT YET RECEIVED
IN THE NEXT TEN DAYS. HE IS ALSO ~R~2~ING F~ TF~B O~I~AL PLANS OF THE YACHT CLUB TO BE LOOKED UP

CRIME WATCH PROGRAM. DALE WEHR, SIRSEJ~EP~TME~I SUPE~SOR, REPORTED A TOTAL OF 1,523 HOURS WORKED.
THEY FINISHED PATCHING THE ROADS A~]~;E __R2-S~__A~CILED~VER 700 SIGNS TO DATE. TOTAL EXPENDITURES FOR
THE MONTH WERE $2,022.00 - $785.00 IN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIRS, $705.00 IN GASOLINE AND THE BALANCE IN
MISCELLANEOUS. THE 4X4 IS RUNNING NOW AND THE SWEEPER WILL BE IN OPERATION WHEN THE PARTS ARE RECEIVED
FROM ORLANDO. ART MAYER REPORTED THE BU~ I~-A~TMENT ISSUED PERMITS FOR 28 SINGLE FAMILY HOMES
FOR AN ASSESSED VALUE OF $959,800.00. CQM~ERCIALIPERMITS WERE ISSUED FOR $12,000.00 FOR REMODELING
AND A 1,000 GALLON FUEL TANK. THE TOTAL F~3R '~'HE ~TH WAS $1,015,946.00. THEY TOOK IN $5,490.15

CONSTRUCTION. THERE WAS A DISCUSSION REGARDING A SAFETY RING AROUND THE TEMPORARY SKID TANK THAT
IS TO BE INSTALLED. IT WAS AGREED BY COUNCIL TO INCORPORATE THIS REQUIREMENT IN THE MOTION.

MAYOR FLOOD SPOKE WITH SOME SENATORS AND CONGRESS PEOPLE REGARDING THE POST OFFICE. THEY TOLD
HIM IT MIGHT BE BENEFICIAL FOR SOME ONE FROM SEBASTIAN TO MEET WITH MR. LETTMAN, SENIOR REPRESENTATIV~
OF THE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS DEPARTMENT. THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS SENDING CHUCK HUMPHREY AND
MAYOR FLOOD REQUESTS THAT THE COUNCIL SEND HIM TO WASHINGTON, ALSO.
MAYOR FLOOD RELEASED INFORMATION ON THE PURCHASE OF APPROXIMATELY 300 ACRES OF LAND FOR A PLANNED
UNIT DEVELOPMENT DESIGNATED AS COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES OF SEBASTIAN. IT WILL INCLUDE HOMES, CONDOMINIUMS
APARTMENTS, A SHOPPING CENTER, SWIMMING POOL. THE PROJECT WILL TAKE ABOUT 4-5 YEARS TO COMPLETE.
MAYOR FLOOD HAS REQUESTED A MARL ROAD BE PUT IN PARALLEL TO MAIN STREET NEAR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR
USE AS A BIKE PATH. WORK IS TO BEGIN THIS WEEK ON IT.
ATTORNEY' RENE VAN DE VOORDE IS REPRESENTING A GROUP OF PEOPLE REQUESTING THE LAND NEXT TO THE
QUARTERDECK BE LEVELED OFF SO THEY CAN BUILD ON IT. MAYOR FLOOD FEELS THEY SHOULD PUT A STABILIZING
BASE DOWN TO RETAIN THE SAND.
