HomeMy WebLinkAbout03141960Regular Meeting March 14, 1960 Meeting was called to order by Chairman pro-tem Finnegan. Those present were Mayor Rohme, Councilmen Finnegan, Baxter, Nash, and Brehmer. Chairman Sembler absent. Attorney Jack~on and City Engineer Darling were also present. Minutes of the regular meetings of Feb.8 and Feb. 22, and special call meeting of Feb 26, were approved as read. Councilman Brehmer reported he had requests ~ citizens for additional street lights to be located on North Indi~River Drive. Councilman Brehmer was instructed by the Council to relocate two existing street lights and also install one additional light in this section. ~ . City Engmneer presented a plat of the new portion of the Sebastian Cemet~u~dthe~corrections of street widths to 25 ft. Clerk read a letter from City Engineer in reference to his opinion on overlapping surveys. Councilman Baxter introduced a drainage problem on North ~entral Ave. adjoining property belonging to S. A. Rudd. Chairman Finn~gan instructed Councilman Baxter to contact S. A. Rudd and request that ~e write a letter to the City giving a description of the property involved.~ in the drainage dispute, and also his request of what action he would like the City to take. Mayor Rohme requested the Council to allow Special Policeman George Thornton to be bonded and also requested one uniform. Council agreed. Mayor Rohme read the Police Dept. report for the month ending March 14, 1960 which showed a net profit of $1857.33. Bert Patton met with the Council to discuss the possibility of locating a Carnival, sponsored by the Charles L. Futch Post 189 of the American Legion, on the property known as Blk. 5 of Edgewater Park Subdivision. The Council approved the American Legion application for a Carnival subject to the Legion Post furnishing proof of inspection in writing of mechanical and electricml equipment; also the City Attorney's approval of the liability insurance policies in the name of Smiley's Amusements, P.O. Box 10~, ~t. McCoy, ~lorida. This approval was made on a motion of Councilman Nash and seconded by'Council Brehmer. Bill amounting to $1739.16 were approved by the Finance committee and authorized to be paid on a motion by Councilman Nash seconded by Councilman Brehmer and carried. Councilamu Brehmer made a motion that in accordance with the "advertised request to change the zoning classification from C-1 Commercial to I-1 Industrial of the property described as: Begin at a point 300 ft. S and 15 ft. E of the NW corner of Gov. Lot #6, s~me being point on E side of Louisa.na Ave. in the City of Sebastian, Florida, thence run E to Western R/W of FE0 Railway thence notherly 153 ft., thence W to anchor bolt, thence S to point of beginning. DBK 26, pp. 267., and due to the fact that there were no objections received in the mail and no objections from any city resident present, it was moved that the petition be granted. Seconded by Councilman Nash and carried. Councilman Baxter made a motion th adjourn, seconded by Councilman Brehmer and carried. Presidmnt of Gouncil
