CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 1225 MAIN STREET, SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA ALL PROPOSED ORDINANCES AND INFORMATION ON ITEMS BELOW MAY BE INSPECTED IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY HALL, 1225 MAIN STREET, SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA. PURPOSE: - ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. R-92-19 - ELECTION RESULTS - INVESTITURE OF NEW MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBER - ELECTION OF VICE MAYOR Vice Mayor Oberbeck called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 3. Invocation was given by Reverend Donald Swope - Sebastian Presbyterian Church. 4. Conyers (excused) Councilman Peter Holyk (excused) City Manager, Robert McClary Director of Community Development, Bruce Cooper Assistant Finance Director, Larry Napier City Clerk, Kathryn O'Halloran Deputy City Clerk, Sally Maio Special City Council Meeting March 16, 1992 Page Two 92.011 5. RESOLUTION NO. R-92-19 - 3/10/92 Election Results A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR CANVASSING OF ELECTION RETURNS; PROVIDING FOR DECLARATION OF RESULTS; DIRECTING THE CLERK TO ENTER THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION IN THE OFFICIAL MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Vice Mayor Oberbeck read Resolution No. R-92-19 by title only. MOTION by Powell/Reid I move to adopt Resolution No. R-92-19 on election results (see attached). VOICE VOTE on the motion carried 3-0. INVESTITURE OF NEW MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBER The City Clerk swore in Council Member elect Carolyn Corum and Mayor elect Lonnie Powell and they took their seats at the Council table. The City Clerk requested to address members as Mr., Mrs., Dr., etc. in light of the charter revision changing reference to "Councilman" to "Council member". Council concurred. Mayor Powell and Council member Corum addressed the public with thanks to supporters and a pledges to work for the betterment of the City. 7. ELECTION OF VICE-MAYOR Mayor Powell opened nominations for Vice-Mayor. Councilman Reid nominated Vice Mayor Oberbeck and Councilman Corum nominated Councilman Holyk. Mayor Powell closed nominations. The City Clerk called for votes on the first nomination for Vice Mayor Oberbeck. Councilman Reid - Aye Vice Mayor Oberbeck - Aye Mayor Powell - Aye Councilman Corum - Nay 2 Special City Council Meeting March 16, 1992 PaGe Three Vice Mayor Oberbeck was re-elected Vice Mayor 3-1 (Corum - nay) 8.
