HomeMy WebLinkAbout03221954 following resolution was presented by Councilman EllinMsen and moved its ado WHEREAS: The Charles L.Futch Post 189 of the Departmen~ of Florida,American Legion,Inc., have offered to purchase ~dditional property from the City of SeDastian,Florida,adjolning their present property,for the purpose of building a new Legion Home,.~iid property adJoln~ng the present property of the ~merican Legion and is not used for,or ~eld for for l~unicilpal purposes and is property which h~s ~ee~ acquired by the City for the non-payment of its liens thereon ~r;d is held for sale.Therefore, RESOLVED: That tlc City of f~ebastian sell to the American Legion the following described property,to-wit: Begin ~t iron pipe which is the present NE corner of the American l.e~ion property 0eing in ~he SE 1/4 of the SW1/4 of ,~ection 6,Township 31 South,and Range ~9 East .Run North 133 feet thence West ~00 feet ,thence South l~ feet to the NW corner of the ~nerlcan Legion property,thence ~00 feet to POB.Said resolution was seconded ~y Councilmmn Chesser and carried. It was moved by Councilman Sembler and seconded by Councilman £11ingsen that the City purchase the 1951 International Truck for the City,Carried. Councilman also mo'v~d ~he radio be taken out of tbs truck and sold for not less than $20.00,said motion ~vas seconded by Councilman :~]llingsen and carried. Councilman Ellingsen moved that the Street Department to convert the truck for street department purpose,motion seconded by Councilman Chesser,and carried. Those present were ~!ayor Shaffer,President Sweatt a~.d Councilmen Ellingsen,Taylor and Chesser. Councilman Sembler Absent.Attorney Walker present. Minutes of regular, meeting of March 8th,1954 and special meeting of March 10,1954 were approved as read. Bill for the amount of $ 59.00 for additional insurance on International Dump Truck which wa~ a?pro~ed by finance committee was authorized to be paid on motion by Councilman Ellingsen ahd seconded by Councilman Taylor.Carried. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter thanking the Indian River News for their tireless effort in obtaining the new rates for telephones between Vero Beach & Se0astian and ~elbourne and Sebastian which will go into effect Just as seen as the new equipment can be installed. Councilman Sweatt reported to the Council what was needed to fix the lights in the City Park and it was moved by Councilm~u Taylor and secon, ed by Councilman Ellingsen that President Sweatt Wms to report what was needed and secure 0ids on same.Carried.
