HomeMy WebLinkAbout03301978SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, THURSDAY, MARCH 30, 1978 MAYOR PAT FLOOD, JR., CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 1:50 P.M. PRESENT: COUNCILMEN JOHN R. JOACHIM, CLIFFORD HOOSE, AND MAYOR FLOOD. ABSENT: COUNCILMAN EVERETT T. GASS (ILL) AND VICE MAYOR LEWIS GRAY. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO DISCUSS APPROVAL OF THE PRINTS OF THE SEBASTIAN RIVER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUILDING. MR. RENE VAN DE VOORDE, PRESIDENT OF THE CHAMBER, STATED THE PLAN HAS BEEN CHANGED SO THE RESTROOMS DO NOT FACE CITY HALL. THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH HAS APPROVED THE USE OF THE EXISTING WELL AS LONG AS IT IS USED FOR SANITARY REASONS ONLY. SIGNS MUST BE POSTED IN THE RESTROOMS WARNING THAT THE WATER IS NOT TO BE USED FOR DRINKING PURPOSES AND BOTTLED WATER MUST BE PROVIDED FOR DRINKING PURPOSES. MAYOR FLOOD INVITED THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT AND TO LOOK AT THE PRINTS. MRS. SZELUGA INQUIRED AS TO WHAT AFFECT THE WATER IN THE RESTROOMS WOULD HAVE ON A CHILD IF HE SHOULD DRINK IT. MAYOR FLOOD DID NOT BELIEVE THERE WOULD BE ANY PROBLEM AS THERE IS A 600' WELL SUPPLYING THE WATER. SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE, ANOTHER WELL AND PUMP MAY BE INSTALLED 100' AWAY. MR. VAN DE VOORDE SAID THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PUT IN ANOTHER WELL. IN REPLY TO A QUESTION BY COUNCILMAN HOOSE AS TO THE AVAILABILITY OF PARKING SPACE, MR. VAN DE VOORDE COMMENTED THERE WAS NOT MUCH SPACE AVAILABLE AS THEY ONLY HAVE MINIMUM GROUND FOR THE BUILDING (35'x50'). IT HAS BEEN ASSUMED THAT PARKING FACILITIES BEHIND THE BUILDING WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE BY THE COUNCIL EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO WRITTEN AGREEMENT. MR. VAN DE VOORDE POINTED OUT THAT THE ZONING AND PL~N~G ~f,J~~ ~g lA,READY APPROVED THE SITE PLAN, WHICH THEY WOULD NOT HAVE DONE IF THEY ~AD~E~PECTE~Y~-~R~B~M~. APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 75 CARS CAN MOTION BY COUNCILMAN JOACHIM, SECOND. E~BY OOUNCILMAN H~SE, TO APPROVE THE PRINTS FOR THE SEBASTIAN RIVER AREA CHAMBER OF C~C~_~E BUILDING. C~IED. MAYOR FLOOD REQUESTED COUNCIL APPROVAL TO WAIVE THE BUILDING PERMIT FEES FOR THE CHAMBER BUILDING AS IT COMES UNDER "CITY SERVICE~ --~ MOTION BY COUNCILMAN JOACHIM, SECONDED ~Y COUNCILM~V HOOSE, TO WAIVE PERMIT FEES FOR THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUILDING.
