HomeMy WebLinkAbout04241961Regular Meeting April 24, 1961 Meeting was called to order by President Sembler. Those present were Mayor Rohme, Rresident Sembler, Councilman DeCristofaro, Baxter, Nash and Finnegan. Councilman Baxter made a motion that in accordance with the advertised request to change the Zoning classification from C-2 to Industrial of the follow- lng described property located in the City of Sebastian, ~lorida to-wit: Beginning at the Southwest corner of 9th Street and U. S. #1 Highway in the City of Sebastian, and run Southerly along the West side of U.S. #1 Highway right-of-way for a distance of 300 feet; thence Westerly on a line parallel to 9th Street a distance of 100 feet for a point of beginning; thence continue on the same course a distance o~ 293.38 feet to the East right-of-way of the ~. E. C. Railroad, thence Northwesterly along said right-of-way of F. E. C. Railroad a distance of 106.36 feet; thence easterly on a course parallel with 9th Street to a point 100 feet Westerly of the right-of-way of U.S. #1 Highway; thence Southerly 100 feet to a point of beginning. The above description being intended to cover a lot 100 feet wide and running from U.S. #1 Highway ~esterly to the ~. E. C. Railroad right-of-way except the front 100 feet of depth from U.S. #1 Highway. Councilman Baxter made a motion that the petition be granted, due to the fact that there was no objection in the mail and no objection from any City resident in the required footage set out in Chapter 176.06 of the Florida State Statutes, seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried. Councilman Baxter named Mr. Edgar T. Copp to replace Mr. R. C. Mansfield on the Citizens Zoning Committee. Councilman Plnneganmoved to accept the Engineers recommendation to prepare legal description on various parcels necessary to obtain the right- of way to the proposed County dumping area South of Roseland, seconded by Councilman Baxter. Carried. Councilman Baxter suggested that woodwork at City Hall and City Garage was in need of paint. On recommendation from Councilman Baxter that some of the Streets need patching, he asked for $100.00 to buy necessary materials, Councilman Nash made a motion to accept this recommendation, seconded by Councilman ~i~uegan. Carried. Councilman ~innegan made a motion that the City Clerk be instructed to write a check in the amount of $ 476.50, for payment in full for a two- frequency radio in the Police car with proper channels necessary for Civil Defense. City will be reimbursed one-half by Indian River County, seconded bt Councilman Baxter. Carried. Councilman Baxter recommended the City of Sebastian purchase a Civil Defense Walkie-Talkie to be kept in the City Hall for emergency purposes. Mayor Rohme was instructed to contact V's T. V. and see what the~ would offer for the radio in the Police car. Councilman Baxter made a motion that three books be ordered from Southern Standard Building Code, seconded by Councilman ~innegan.
