Park Attorney Chas. a. },.iitchell The minutes of the regular meeting of April 11 were read and approved. Mayor Badger addressed the Council with reference 'to the anchor in the Atlantic ocean ncr the Sebastian inlet, which is a menace to navigation and which he and Engineer 0. P. Lurid of Ft. Pierce investigated several days ago. Mayor Badger stated he thought it would be a nice thing for some civic organization to have the anchor brought to Sebastian and have it properly mojnted and if it was not taken care of through this source he hoped the City would see fit to have it mounted. The City Attorney was instructed to institute suit for foreclosure on the following described property: Part of lot 3, August Park S/D sec. 31-3-39 The costs of this property to be computed as if it were in the other suits. RESOLU?ION N0. II ~ WHERi~AS, Effie M. Rogers has paid to the City of Sebastian, Florida, the sum of One Hundred and Five Dollars ($105.00) for the purpose of redeeming the following..., described property located in Sebastian Florida, to-wit: N. 10.23 Acres of Fractional pa~t of Government lot l, Section l, Township 31 S. Range 39 E; and WHEREAS~, the said City has accepted said sum as payment of taxes due on said property for the years 1925 to 1930 inclusive; and WHEREAS, tax certificates are outstanding against said property for certain of said years and are owned by the said City and are held by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Indian River County; therefor, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Sebastian, in 'their judgment, believe it is best for the interest of the City, that said tax certificates upon said property for said years, be surrendered and cancelled and that the Clerk of said Court is hereby authorized to cancell any certificates on said above described pro.[~erty outstanding by reason of the non-payment of city taxes on said property for the years 1925 'to 1930 inclusive; it being -the intention of the said City to show city taxes on said property as being fully paid for said years. Councilman R. O. Hardee introduced the foregoing resolution and moved it's adjoption, which said motion was seconded by Councilm~om S. ~. Park. The resolution was declared duly adopted upon the followinc vote: Ayes: Martin, Hardee and Park N~ys: None. The easement of WashIn~i~ton Place was discussed and it was first agreed that a committee be apoointed to meet with Kenneth l~]urdock who is interested in lot 9 of Braddock's S/D'to sec if some plan could be worked out whereby ~f~r. ~durdock could pay his taxes and deed the City the 1~ of lot 9 with riparian ri~!zhts. .~,~fter discussing this plan, however, it was agreed 'that the entire Council to~ether with the City ~ttorney wou~d meet Wednesday at noon with ~r. ~iurdock at his place of business. Councilman Hardee chairman of the finance con~3ttee asked t~mt all monies collected, on all foreclosure proceedings in. the City of Sebastian 'be paid to thc City Clerk a~i the clerk to issue vouchers for payment of costs, etc. Continuation of Regular Meeting of &i~ri! 25, 1932. A number of the business men seeking protection from the robberies which have' taken place recently and willin~ 'to pay $1.00 per week each, for a night watbhman appeared before the Council askin~ that the City assume ,a~ amount each month to apply on a watchmans salary. ,'after a ~:eneral discuss, ion it was agreed by the merchants and business men that they wo~ld raise ~40o©0 and the City to pay ~20o00 per month for a while or until other arrangement~, were made. The watchman is 'to do his own collecting and the merchants ar~~ to select a man to be submitted 'to the ~t~yor for his approval. Councilman Park moved that City attorney start proceedings at once to acquire the spoil bank in the Indian river opposite to and within the City limits, which was seconded by CounciLman Hardee and carried by the followiEg vote: Ayes: Nnrtin Park and Hardee Nays: Non~. Councilman Hardee moved t~t when the Sebastian PUblic Hall was rented or leased for public dances t~mt the manager of the hall Company include $2.00 for rental of the hall each night there is dancei~ to pay for policing. The slack management in the operation of Teal Tavern was called to the Councils attention by ~ayor Badger and he recommended that the City Attorney write a letter to the owner asking that some action in th~ way the hotel is being operated be taken immediately. The Council thought this would be a good plan. ~otion made by Councilman ~lartin, seconded by Councilman Hardee that Council go into executive session. Motion made by Councilman Park, seconded by Councilraan Hardee, that Council ad journ. Motion carried.
