HomeMy WebLinkAbout05141956Regular Meeting May 14,1956 Meeting was called to order by Presiden~ Sembler. Those present were Mayor Taylor,President Sembl~r and Councilmen Nash,Chesser, Ellingson and Benschop.&ttorney Walker was also present. Bills amounting to Three Hundred Seventy Three dollars and Forty Six cents ($373.46) was approved by the Finance Committee and authorized to be paid on motion by Councilman Ellingson,seconded by Councilman Nash.Carried. Attorney Walker related to the Council of the County Commzissioners agreement to construct Sidewalks A~d Curbing in replacement of the City's present Sidewalks and Curbs. c Jack Baxter was given authority to attach a Suppressor on the caution light at the intersection of Main Street and US No.1 c~ mo$ion by Councilman Ellingson,seconded by Count ilman Ben schop .Carried. City Clerk was instructed by the Council to purchase two locks for Park light switch a~d Shuffle board court light switch. City Clerk read a le~te~ ~m Warren D.Haffleld,Chapter Chairman of the Red Cross, in which he was giving the City of Sebastian an opportunity to donate toward buying a new Station Wagon.President Sembler appointed Councilman Chesser as a Committee of one to incuire as to the amount Vero Beach would donate and the Sebastian Council would decide as to their donation e~ the next regular meeting. Diayor Taylor presented to the Council a Building ?er~it application for a workshop and garage to be issued to R.D.Jordan.Presldent Sembler instructed Clerk to have Mt.Jordan draw up papers stating his intentions and get signatures of his neighbors on samein order to receive a Permit. Councilman Ellingson told Co~ncil of ~.Bosworth's wish to extend Naln Street on to the Westward.This portion of Main Street to be 60 ft. in width to be constructed at his expense.The Cottucll decided to table Mr.Bosworth proposition until such a time that .Mr. Bosworth could meet with Council. Mayor Taylor read monthly Police reportto the Council. Councilman Cheeser reported to the Council the m~ch needed repair of the 2nd St. R.i crossing.The Clerk wa~ instructed to get in touch with proper authorities and have the Railroad repair this crossing. President Sembler appointed Councilman Elllngson to serve on Councilmah Benschop's Committee during the tim~ of him absence. Councilman Ellingson reported a poor drainage system at West end of Main Street. President Sembler requested Stree~ Comnlttee h~Ave William Thornton remedy this situation as soon as possible. Councilman Ellingson ~ade a motion to adjourn,seconded by Councilman Benschop.Carried. Pres. Council
