HomeMy WebLinkAbout05171949Meeting Called to Order by President Middleton. Those answering Roll Call were Mayor Roberts, President Middleton, Councilmen Sembler, Stevenson, Letchworth and Anderson. Minutes of the last meeting of May 3rd were read and approved. It was moved by Councilman Sembler that the City reimburse W. D. Daniels with the five dollars which he paid Marshall 0,Neal for the fine of George Brandon. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Letchworth and carried. Action was taken on three bids sent in to the City for the repainting of two 8x8 traffic signs and 9 small traffic signs. The bids were: Elliott Sign Co. $84.00 using scotchlite on the two 6x8 signs. veto ~ign Co. 99.00 using scotchlite on the two 6x8 signs. Vero Sign Co. 84.00 not using scotchlite on 6x$ signs. Kltnkner Sign Co. VS.00 using scotchltte on two 6x8 signs. Kltnkner Sign Co. 69.50 not using scotchllte on 6x8 signs. The bid was let to the Klinkner Sign Co. for $78.00 using scotchlite on the two Isigns and also asking for guarantee of not pealing. ~. ion by Councilman Sembler and seconded by Councilman Letchworth passed same~ A bill from Ronold Senne for $15.26 was presented for payment on lumber for ne~ sign for the south end of the City. Payment was authorized on motion by Council- man Stevenson which was seconded by Councilman Sembler. Carried. Councilman Sembler reported the drain ditch running through Federal Fruit Co. property was stopped up and would have to be opened up to keep the water from backing up on property on the 'west side on North Central Avenue. One of the County fire trucks was offered to the City to use if the City would take over the maintenance of same. Mr. A. p. Baughman, who came up from Veto to attend Council meeting and presented the facts covering the acceptance of truck was assured by the City that the truck would be kept up. On a motion by Councilman Sembler which was seconded by Councilman Letchworth passed accept- ance. Carried. The chair appointed Councilman Sem~ler and Councilman Letchworth to arrange all facilities needed to take care of the fire truck. The clerk was asked to write letters to the following: Mr. Loftin of the FEC Railroad in connection with caution lights for Fellsmere Crossing. Mr. Merrill Barber of the State Road Department, to assist in hurrying the installation of the crossing lights. A letter of thanks to the Mayor of the Oity of Stuart for invitation to attend Fourth of July celebration in Stuart. And Superintendent of the FEC Railroad asking for an answer to letter concern- ing the sanitation problem of the Depot and living quarters of the FEC Railroad employees in the City of Sebastian. ~here being no more business,meeting was adjourned to meet at 8 o'clock P.
